anyone hear about a hold up that happened today?

I cant confirm, but word is 3 men ran in, made everyone lie on the ground took the money from the cashier, robbed everyone, but it had 2 plain clothes police officers who came to renew their drivers permit and opened fire, one bandit got shot and the other 2 got away.

Anyone heard anything similar to this today?

Bandit shot dead in Licensing hold-up
-Rickie Ramdass

Tuesday, June 23rd 2009

A DARING attempted daylight robbery at the St James branch of the Licensing Office turned fatal for one of the would-be robbers yesterday, when a police officer who was in the building whipped out his gun and fired at them, hitting one of the men multiple times.

Dead is Harold Commissiong, 51. Police said around 3.15 p.m., five armed men entered the building and announced a robbery. They ordered the customers to lie on the ground and then "began shooting indiscriminately". It was then that the officer, who was conducting business at the time, pulled out his gun and opened fire.

The men then attempted to escape in a white Nissan Almera car, but four of them later abandoned the vehicle and their injured counterpart along Henry Pierre Street in Mucurapo. The four escaped on foot. Commissiong was found by residents and rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital, but died on arrival, police said.

Inspector Henry Dann of the St James Police Station is spearheading investigations.

Yea mom works in T&TEC across the street. I'm glad she wasn't hurt. LEVEL gunshot was heard she said. People just began running for their life. It was a very serious shootout. This sorta thing becoming common all over the country. Right after a certain minister of national crime... whoops I mean national security (wow what a typo) say they working on gang and ammunition legislation to combat crime problem. Well this is the criminals response to that... :|
Minister Martin Joseph we understand you don't commit the crimes or can stop people from doing it. However you have failed in terms of protecting citizens. How many crimes are unclassified? How many crimes are unsolved? How many state protected witnesses are murdered and the criminals are freed when EVERYONE knows they killed the witness as there's no coincidence in their manner of death? How many criminals are allowed to walk free and then sue the state because of backward laws? DO victims truly get justice? These things are in your portfolio. DO SOMETHING OR ELSE WE CITIZENS WILL!!!

are we really a republic' & an independent country ?

do we handle our own affairs'... why is it that the Privy council steps in, dictates & encroaches on our legislation & not that of the US or european countries ?

why are our natural resources exploited by foreign companies ? (oil, gas & asphalt lake)
a country's natural resources should be it's bread & butter', inheritance of it's citizens and reserves for hard times'.

why is it that it's easier to import from the US & europe when good, natural foods, fruits, vegees etc r cheap in venezuela next door, yet it's not on our market ? btw apples & grapes grow there too

is the blimp here to fight crime ?
no'... it's used as surveillance on neighbouring countries, esp. venezuela & latin america for US purposes. . .as u can see it's ineffective in the fight against crime

do u think it's coincidence that we' had the summit of the americas here' ?

r trinis like me just talking & not doing ?
yes unfortunately

how many of us spend time on this forum bitching out' about everything from A-Z ... and that's as far as it goessss' ?????

erm i agree all governments rape this land for $$$ and we see nothing from it... its well IMO the majority are just too uneducated to realise and or even care soooooooooo... if they can get away with it... why not?

and apart from b1tchin abt it like the rest of us here on this forum if you are doin something about it, i commend your efforts but i wouldn't try very hard @ all because i've retired to the fact that (as mentioned earlier) trini's (most) are too stupid, irate, ignorant and selfish and if the masses want to be ruled by polititian's lies and base their support on these ppl on ethinic/racial prefrence, who am I (being in the minority) to try and oppose? aka "we like eeet soooo"

so come 2012 (the dreaded 2012 :skurry: ) sat maraj gonna bawl and list all the cases where east indians were being discriminated against... panday and dooks gonna tally all the murders and crime stats from 2002 - 2012 in their campaign... dooks gonna quote all the large figures of tax payers $$$ panday and manning squander/teif etc etc etc...

and manning will raise CEPEP salary, pay outstanding URP debts... promise unions better working conditions, promise beethem, lavantee, morvant, john john et al better living conditions for the period 2012-2017 oh and promise them houses in other districts (or even distribute them before elections to get a marginal stronghold) to spread crime in your area.... and..... he will win :|

and btw i am of the belief that if we get rid of privy council we are fcuked :|

This makes me realize how important it is for these government offices especially to start enforcing the use of debit/credit cards as method of payment, or even online applications. The bandits running out of places to find easy cash..they gettin desperate with all these daring daylight robberies.

i mean walkin in a licensing office and shooting indiscriminately?? is sounds like a saloon robbery in the wild west.

stop using cash as much as possible, linx and visa debit cards are relatively cheap! in the long run it will diminish the amount of cash available for these miscreants to steal. Look how d carib truck an dem eh gettin shoot up anymore for cash

Truth. The licensing office doesn't even have an ounce of tech about it. No sort of database, and everything (after all these years) is still written down by hand. If you lose you permit, you have to flip through large books until you find your name. A simple 5 minute process of renewing your permit takes 2hrs+. There's no propoer security (if any at all), and the staff is your typical government i-don't-give-a-sh1t employee. I guess you can't blame them. all the money went to blimps and private jets.

probably if he was alive they could of gotten some leads.

Not sure if they would act on it tho, but you know, they need to put something in their reports
