Former Neal and Massy executive Bernard Dulal-Whiteway was yesterday described as an inspirational leader who touched the hearts of everyone at the Port of Spain-based conglomerate.
Dulal-Whiteway, the Group chief executive at Neal and Massy, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday afternoon and passed away peacefully at his home in Fairways, Neal and Massy chairman Arthur Lok Jack said.
’Bernard was an inspirational leader whose kindness touched the hearts of all of us at Neal and Massy. We are saddened by his loss but motivated by the legacy he leaves behind for caring for people, bottom-line performance and growth,’ Lok Jack said in a statement to the Express.Â
Over the nine-year period of his tenure as the Group CEO, Dulal-Whiteway built a strong team of executives who shared his vision, values and standards, he said.
In May, the board of directors appointed Gervase Warner as the acting Group CEO and Warner effectively took over leadership of the Group, Lok Jack added.
’Over the course of the last seven months, Gervase and the rest of the executive leadership team have continued Bernard’s and the Neal & Massy’s tradition for high business ethics and performance commendably,’ he said.
Neal and Massy Holdings Ltd has confirmed Gervase Warner as the next Group chief executive officer of the Neal and Massy Group of Companies.Â
’I personally wish to thank Bernard for the tremendous contribution he made to Neal and Massy, the business community in Trinidad and Tobago and beyond, and to the lives of all of us whom he touched,’ Lok Jack said. ’I am grateful to have known him, to have served with him and for being his friend. Gervase has an excellent team of executives to work with him and the rest of our board of directors shares my confidence that the future of the company rests in good hands. New Group CEO Warner said yesterday: ’On behalf of the Neal and Massy Group I extend my condolences to (Dulal-Whiteway’s) wife Cheryl and son Graeme at this time.’ -
