Help: Issue with Blink DNS Servers

Postby wevolutions » June 1st, 2010, 8:18 pm

I have some websites being hosted in the US and I am unable to access these sites using Blink, but other ISPs like Flow and Greendot can access them without error. The sites are even accessible outside of Trinidad and Tobago. My hosting provider says that the problem most likely is with my ISPs DNS Resolver. I called Blink and the person told me it was because of my Firewall but I had already removed my firewall and now they are saying I need to call a PC Technician.

I need to get to someone who can assist me in finding out if Blink's DNS is working properly and how I can get my websites functioning again. The sites were functioning previously but all of a sudden all went down at the same time.

I can be reached at 689-4695. I appreciate any help with this issue. Thanks in advance.

change your dns to point to 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220
OpenDNS>Blink

I use Blink at the office, but our dns forwards to opendns anyway, so blink doesn't do any resolving. You can check if blink is resolving correctly by changing your dns on the network adapter to the ones above. If the sites open blink dns is the problem. Don't let them tell you otherwise.

Thank you but that will only solve the problem for me alone. What about the others who try to access the websites using Blink? Not everyone will know what to do and they will think the sites are not functioning.

Is there anyone from Blink who can check into this issue? Phone tech support is no help at all, especially when 3/4 of the time you cant even understand what these foreign people are saying.

You can call and ask to speak to a local rep. Once you can explain to them that it's not a pc issue and the sites are in fact up, they should try to sort out the dns issues. It would help if you were a corporate client though.

I've been having that happen for months. Just so I can't connect to a website. BitTorrent, gaming, MSN/Yahoo all those work even when I can't connect to a site and I can log on to a site by inputting their ip address directly.

Hasn't happened for a while though. *fingers crossed*

@ weveloutions, I presume that this is for a network. Once that's the case, have your IT guys input the IPs terabyte gave you into your DNS server.

Curious to know the outcome.

Actually no, this is not for a network. It is happening for everyone in Trinidad and Tobago right now who is using Blink internet. The problem is with Blink DNS Servers not resolving to my domains. IP Addresses are working fine, plus other ISPs like Flow and Greendot.

No scene.

I setup in the router @ my mom's home the IPs for blink manually as opposed to letting the DHCP in their modem do it.

Works fine. If I remember correctly it's 196.3.132.1/196.3.132.4 and also 196.3.132.153 and 154

I just got fedup of dealing with their non-local over the phone tech support.

OK, thanks for all the help. Dealing with Blink tech support is too much stress. I decided to just change my nameserver info on my domains and change my dns server info and it actually is working as it should right now. I did not use Blink's DNS info so that I should not have any more problems afterwards.

I think Blink really needs to sort out their server problems and get better tech support for dealing with issues like this.
