No need to treat the rust spot before priming? If yes, what should I treat it with?adnj wrote:Jerry84 wrote:Seeing that you all mentioned paint, I was wondering if I could used car paint to paint a fridge. Thing is I was thinking about using a small roller to roll on the car paint.
What should I use after rubbing down the fridge? Also what do I use on the rust spots?
What primer should I use and is it the same way(via roller) to apply to the fridge? Trying to make this a DIY project.
Thanks
Buy two or three cans of appliance paint and one can of grey metal primer. Sand rust spots to bare metal and prime them before painting.

If you have a ding in an appliance's external housing, don't bother with filler. Sand, paint and move on. If you have holes, you aren't doing yourself any favors by refinishing the housing. Unless you are a historical collector - buy a new appliance to replace it. The life cycle of a major appliance is only about twenty years.rollingstock wrote:Sand the rust spots down to bare metal. Autobody filler for low spots, sand, prime and paint. That's if the rust spots are just superficial. If it's bad there'll be some welding to do.

So looking for something that could paint on or spray on in the whole area to hopefully stop the leak
