yeah and I dont want to put a stone sealant on it as that makes it look shiny and unnatural
I have changed 2 rafters over the years
The fading in the sun is a real thing - I am yet to find a varnish that will last years.
The MinWax does a good job but every so often it needs sanding and refinishing.
I much prefer the satin/matte finish than glossy

I used a yacht varnish from Peakes on a wooden butcher block countertop in the laundry room and it turned yellow
