If you look at trends over time, you'll see that the best time to start is always "now". There's always something that pushes the price of construction up. I'm in the same boat, but just waiting on approvals to start.

Has anyone ever used those ultrasonic water level monitoring devices in their water tank so that they can monitor the water level from inside the house and have an alarm sound if the water level drops to a predetermined level? Are these devices available locally?

What is a good brand to go with?

Thanks.

I ordered one of those from amazon. Cant remember the brand but the device was small, about 4” tall. Looked like a mini rocket and had a small display inside. It worked for a bit but condensation used to build up frequently on the sensor and give false readings.

I use one of these non electronic gauges. The cheaper and even not so cheap ultrasonic ones very prone to issues.

Good day All,
Which company has the best PVC square gutters?
Looking for a good brand that has minimum moss/mildew growth.

The actual pvc doesn't matter.
Just clean it properly then and use a good quality exterior paint.

My recommendation is to avoid the Biggie pipes and square gutters.

The joints to connect sections together and to connect to bends and offsets are almost always never snug. Liberal amounts of silicone are often needed to secure these joints and to make leak proof. I do not believe the joints are tight enough to even allow the use of solvent cement.

The price as well is also quite high.

I would recommend using 3" PVC pipe (or 4" PVC depending on water volume) over the square down pipes any day. Once painted, they look just as good and connecting pieces together is much easier. Repairs will also be very easy due the cost and availability of proper PVC fittings.

Hey,

I heard an ad on the radio a couple weeks ago about a construction company doing full builds and they will pay for any cost over-runs or a free pool.

Unfortunately I was driving so I didn’t get to take down the name.

Anybody heard the ad and can provide the name?

You can fix that. Look for a 'specific to laminate floor' cleaner like this https://www.amazon.com/Zep-Hardwood-Laminate-Cleaner-ZUHLF128/dp/B08YP43B94

Like pugboy said it's different quality and resistance for brands. Not all are going to be the same quality, and like any floor they need certain levels of maintenance.

Image

The Top coat of laminate flooring is a clear finish. The top coat layer is made from a mixture of melamine and urethane aluminum oxide. Aluminum oxide finishes are used in many different products and provide a UV cured finish. This finish is resistant to stains and fading from sunlight. The mixture also supports an EIR finish. An EIR finish is what the industry called Register Embossing. This embossing is what provides the realistic texture that follows the pattern of the image on the flooring. The other significant part of the top coat is the melamine, this will help provide stability for the product. The thickness of the top layer is often the same thickness of the bottom layer, and they comprised of similar material.

This was my only installed in March this year. What you are seeing is the area where was flexing constantly. It top layer eventually breaks apart and exposes the black area near the edges. This is a new installation. Is either i got cheap material or poor workmanship. To me it looks like the board is damaged. That colour and pattern is the design. It looks like a real wood finish.

It looks like they’ve separated, didn’t realize it’s the edges that have broken off. A few causes, poor installation, not acclimated, cheaper product.

Question....

Laminate flooring... Is it really as easy as YouTube says to install? Anyone tried this on their own? Success stories welcomed. Also listing of tools needed/used would be appreciated.
