They are starting milling / resurfacing from Valpark to Kaydonna intersection (East bound) from today. It is the outer left lane that needs to be worked on. I bet they will resurface the entire 3 lanes and shoulder. Coosals is the contractor.

Still waiting on Danny's to complete the Omeara intersection. Who is the owner a relative of that they can go around milling roads and not complete them with no apparent consequence

Are you sure that they haven't run out of TLA binder again? The intersection at UWI also still remains to be repaved.

All main roads in Trinidad are paved with asphalt blended with TLA binder (a mix of 30% Lake Asphalt and 70% refinery bitumen) produced by LATT as opposed to straight run refinery bitumen binder produced by Petrotrin.

How come so much roads in north are being resurfaced. Roads that were pretty ok. Yet the north south highway suffers with multiple potholes and uneven areas. When last was this highway resurfaced

Roads in the East were neglected by successive regimes . The Churchill Rosevelt Highway is the main route for Eastern traffic flow. There needs to be overpass systems to reduce all those traffic lights at Curepe , UWI , Macoya, Trincity, Piarco and Omera . The intersections of Pasea, Maloney , Mausica can feed in larger systems maybe .

Speaking of Mausica , who is the bright spark that put a traffic light to enter PriceSmart ? Really a round a bout would have been better . Sometimes I think our planners think too simply , that a traffic light is a solution to the simplest of volume and directional flows. Where more flowing alternatives can be made use them .

PPG means Proper Paving Government.

Never in my life I ever see such thorough paving being done...that trench dig and fill with concrete is new to me. Previous govt used to just pave over existing layer and leave us wondering for months where the white lines gone. Now is mill, dig, fill, pave and mark road same night. Also paving being done at night. I remember the horror man used to go through cuz pnm chose to block off entire highways during daylight. Radio talkshows used to be busy with frustrated callers.

That is thinking. That is performance. That is a Proper Pave.

Dem roads gonna last the test of time. In 50 years my grandchiren might be driving me and I will look at dem an say "baiyo, this is what you call ah Proper Pave"

PNM prolly takin notes and sayin if we ever get back in 2020, this is how we go pave.

If there is a new standard in paving we are all grateful . However the lanes from UWI to Curepe on the west bound land of the CRH have been paved recently and are now being paved again due to surface degradation . If we are indeed seeing a serious look at highway surface maintenance we are also grateful.

There was a better flow of traffic last afternoon from Nestle east wards . This maybe is due to the opening of the long overdue Trincity bridge. Three lanes needs to be extended past Piarco.

When last you drove past Piarco?

It's 3 lanes up to the next traffic light.

Long overdue . Based on the epic traffic in the east this evening and the last one wonders if this has helped . What is the reason now from 10kmph avg from Port of Spain to Trincity ?

The paving on the Arouca bridge is poorly done. The crash barriers are poorly designed, not even a proper nosing. The only good thing is that it is no longer a constriction to the traffic flow in the local area.

Overall Rating - Thumbs down PPG (Poor Paving Government).

Dizzy , you are saying that from Wed at the opening were everyone could attest to benefits of the new lane . 24 hours later the quantum of cars new on the road increased so as not to show any benefit of the additional lane . Put down that drink or stop smoking that ..... .

A more likely explanation is that with the additional volume reaching the Piarco lights , some adjustment needs to occur with the timing there . In fact if the traffic was up to Piarco lights as said by another tuner, lends itself to this rationale.

The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure wishes to advise the general public that the Eastbound Lane of the Beetham Highway, from the Light House to Abattoir Road, will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7:00 p.m. Saturday 25th October, 2014 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday 26th October, 2014.

This closure is necessary in order to facilitate milling and paving of the roadway, as part of the Port of Spain Access Project.
