My passport expires within the next six months. Can I still travel to the U.S. with this passport?
Yes you may travel on your current passport. Generally passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the end of their journey. However, an agreement exists between the U.S. and Trinidad and Tobago whereby their passports are recognized as valid for return for a period of six months beyond the expiration date specified in the passport.
It must be noted, however, that admission into the United States will not be granted by U.S. immigration authorities for a period extending beyond the actual expiration date shown in the passport, and that the alien’s stay in the United States cannot be extended beyond that date until an extension of the validity of the passport has been obtained.
That said, it is highly recommended that you renew your passport and travel with both.
