The Recruit (2022/Netflix series) was pretty good. CIA/Spy sheit with some humour peppered in. Short season run - 8 eps, so worth a weekend binge.

Started Alice in Borderland. Reminds me of Squid Game which I enjoyed, so I guess I'm gonna see it through.

Also watched the Murderville Christmas special - it was hilarious enough for me to go look at the series when I'm done.

Season two bloodier than the first. Full 10/10... to gain full perspective you have to take in Season one (slower cook)

Brilliant freaking series.... now starting Season One...usual with BBC/SKY.. .short run..only 6 episodes... but ferk....

Gary Oldman is..... just in his element here.

She might just be able to pull that off. Will. Watch

I see they doing the that's 70's show updated to that 90's show. Looks over cooked.

Kaleidoscope going really good. Nice method of delivering the story, as it is randomized and can be watched in any order.

Alice in Borderland was also pretty good.

The Recruit was kinda predictable but makes a good watch if you like the comedic action genre.

Correct, but I liked it... Visuals made up for the story by a lot.
Terming it a visual masterpiece is an understatement

Avatar is just a retelling of the true 1990 epic "Dances with Wolves" with Kevin Costner. It tells an experience of a US Civil War Union soldier being wounded so badly and close to death, but miraculously survived a battle and got posted to the remote frontier. The story progresses into a white outsider joining the Lakota Amerindian tribe and eventually pledging complete loyalty to them after being betrayed by Union soldiers. Sounds similar to the Avatar story? The Director's Extended Cut is just under 4 hours of masterpiece cinematography.

It was an original script by Michael Blake in 1986 turned into a novel and then Costner bought the movie rights. If you haven't ever see it, go watch that film. Avatar stuns the audience with CGI, but the story is not original. Dances with Wolves was so good that it was nominated for 12 categories for the Academy Awards in 1991 and won in 8. In total it won 38 film awards that year. Dances with Wolves. Go (re)watch it and then compare it to Avatar.

Shouldn't it make more sense that the water Na'vi is blue instead of green? And the forest Na'vi is green instead?

Either way I'm wondering if Cameron is going to go all the elements with the Na'vi, Water, Air, Fire and Earth?

On stories like Avatar and subsequent struggles. I find it hard to be amazed and wowed by the story.
The reality is that when two alien civilizations meet with such vast differences in technology there is only one outcome. The lesser tech one eventually gets defeated despite all the marvelous tales of heroism and struggle for survival. Human history is full of these examples, but more recent events are the American Indian Wars and Trail of Tears in USA, and the Spanish colonization of the entire New World.

When Magellan arrived in Cebu in the Philippines in 1521, the natives defeated the Spanish and killed Magellan himself there. Great victory that became legend. It was safe for a long time after. But the Spanish did return 40 years later in 1565 when memory of an alien invasion and threat would have faded over an entire generation. And the outcome was inevitable. Same with the Romans invading England and most of Europe. Same with Islamic crusades moving over vast regions of Africa.

Some youtuber said, if they get enough money they could do 5 movies, but they couod stop after the third, np, if it doesn't capture appeal and still close off the story.

They have funds for the third, but if it doesn't perform well, the story coudl wrap with that.
They doing the 5, but catered a stop just in case.

Pocahontas is not the story that you saw in that Disney cartoon film at all. At all.
Pocahontas was a 16 year old child of a Chief who was kidnapped and raped and impregnated by a colonialist, married to him and then sex slave transported to England where she died at age 21.

Yeah buddy, that ain't Avatar.

i saw avatar 2 in imax --- i'd give it about a 7 or 8...

10/10 on visuals... fk me - it was amazing in imax
worldbuilding 10/10
character development 0/10 lol
story 5/10

i think i'd watch extended versions of avatar only if there arent any sky people/avatars and it's all na'vi. visuals were so good.

i'd recommend watching it in imax.
