Is it a brushed motor? Describe the actions off the red light.

Venom batteries seem to be working pretty good for me so far. Never had any problems with them. Been using them for around 3 years or so.

I use the normal traxxas ez peak 6 amp charger. Been going strong for a few years now.

Was considering trying Gens Ace LiPos...have you ever tried another brand???
Venom is so much more expensive than the others that even have better specs than them

Yep Gens Ace should work fine :)
I've used them before and had no problems.
So far I've used traxxas, venom, gens ace, and turnigy. Turnigy wasn't too bad for the price tbh, traxxas batteries were over priced in my opinion, they were more expensive and had the same overall quality as the others. Personally I love the venom batteries so I kinda stuck to them over the years.

Most of all id say get whichever you want, check the reviews online and whatnot, the gens ace is fine but focus more on getting a high quality charger. I've seen some friends buy cheaper chargers that seemed nice only to fail on them later on.

What motor are you using as it will determine the current draw required from the ESC
