Rented a car in the US, go to the lot, pick out an Elantra, when I get in and drive off, engine revving hard, hard and it barely going forward. Turns out I was in low gear.

so this happened to me

about a year ago i went a wedding with a friend. kinda tipsy i decide to drop her home n head home myself. i hit a hole n got a flat. so the girl said well i have on nice clothes she go call her brother to come change it. immediately i felt immasculated i was like nah ill change it small ting. yuh boy oull ut jack..the scissor one and rel jack up n ting making small talk...trying to buss the bolts now it eh wanna buss..so i stand up on the jack and proceed to jump on the jack rocking it...didnt even realize i put the jack in the wrong place...car just fell to the ground..jack wen tru the floor oui...dis girl rell laugh...

and just last week..i went to take a video of my interior to send to an interior cleaning place for him to give me a rough estimate. took off the alarm cuz it was annoying while we was doing the engine swap. so i open my door manually with the key and i have it in my hand video recording the backseat n ting all the flooring. close the door wen to the front did the same. pressed to lock with my hand felt my pockets and felt something so i was like kool i have the key so i closed the door..walking back to my office watching the video i just took..i saw the keys on my back seat !! immediately i dippied in my pocket where i thought i fet the key and it was a pen -__- ...walked back to the car saw they keys in my back seat looked at my phone where i paused on the key saw the same thing..talk bout feeling dotish

Gone to fill the tank yesterday at a station with an attendant, so i just pulled the gas tank lever (which is right next to another lever switch) and didn't get out of the car. Later when i parked at PriceSmart i discovered i was driving around for the last half hour on the main roads with my bonnet open! Good thing i didn't hit the highway after that fill up!

Went to the gas station to fill the Vezel about an hour after getting it.

Car was in drive and the man tell me roll up to the next pump just as I cracked the door to jump out.
Went to park and didn't wanna stay in Drive.

WELL I GET BUMMY AF because I now buy the damn car.

Apparently once the driver door is opened, the car puts itself in park and will not let you drive with an open drivers door. Took me like 5 mins to figure that out, but the station was empty and my ego wasn't bruised too much

oh yeah my Honda has the same system. It's a "drive by wire" dual clutch transmission that's completely computer controlled. You can't apply the P even by mistake while the car is in motion or the door is open. It's quite useful for engine braking because the computer controls the gears down successively in order when you apply the L to engine brake, instead of the transmission just shifting and locked to 2nd or 1st like older transmissions.

Had the car for a bit. Key was not coming out the ignition... shake, twist, pull, nothing. Get vex and just yank it out because life have to go on.

Came back, trying to start, no tumble... well i say i mash up the ignition switch.

Behold... my gear was on reverse all the time. Good thing i was parked on a flat and my brakes was up. Once the gear went on park, ignition key went in and out nicely (lol) and the car start normz.

Went to the ATM recently, and on the way in I spot an ole pappy fighting up in a silver Corolla. I ask pappy if he getting through, and he says the steering won't unlock. I ask him if he inserted the key while moving the steering left and right and he says "yes." I says "lemme see" He proceeds to show me, but I find his coordination looking sketchy, so I says "lemme try it dey uncle" I proceed to try and I and all not getting through. Then I hear pappy say "son hold on a minute, I THINK I IN DE WRONG CAR!!!!"
When I jump out, there is an identical looking Corolla parked two spaces down  Turns out pappy's well worn cut key was able to unlock the other car, but not unlock the steering
Imagining having to explain to some guntas/police/soldier coming around the corner and seeing me in their car fighting up with the ignition and steering HTF that happen!

Things like this is why I adopt the philosophy, don't feel sorry for nobody. More often than not it brings trouble onto yourself.

Rented a Ford F150 in Texas a few months back, and as I drove it off the lot and stopped at the first light out of the airport it cuts off :? I'm there fumbling around looking for warning lights and trying to restart it. People start honking behind and as I ease off the brake, it starts  Turns out that is a feature, presumably to save gas/improve mileage/cut emissions
