Haven't seen this posted before. Could this be the tip of the iceberg? All these 2 x 4 bush league tournaments that exist now are ripe for match fixing. A lot of players who never made big money from IPL or from regular international cricket might be easy prey for match fixers.

West Indies batter Devon Thomas suspended for corruption

ICC charges Thomas with seven counts for breaches that took place at the Lanka Premier League, the Abu Dhabi T10 and the Caribbean Premier League

The ICC has suspended West Indies batter Devon Thomas, slapping seven charges under its anti-corruption code on him including "contriving to fix" matches. Thomas, who was named in the West Indies squad for the forthcoming three-ODI series against the UAE in Sharjah, has 14 days to respond.

The charges against 33-year-old Thomas are with regard to his conduct while playing in three franchise-based tournaments: the Lanka Premier League (LPL), the Abu Dhabi T10 and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

In a media statement on Tuesday, the ICC said Thomas had breached the anti-corruption codes at all three tournaments and its anti-corruption unit had been authorised by all three boards in question - Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) - to conduct the investigation on their behalf. In a media statement, CWI said it would fully support the ACU investigation and that it was resolute about "denouncing corruption" in cricket.

gainst Thomas - of attempting to fix a match - is from the 2021 edition of the LPL when he played for Kandy Warriors. Incidentally, Thomas played just one game in that edition of the LPL.

Overall, Thomas faced four charges under the SLC anti-corruption code on his conduct in that tournament. The four charges are of "contriving or being party to an agreement to fix or attempt to fix, contrive or influence improperly the result, progress, conduct or other aspects of matches", "failing to disclose […] full details of an approach" to the ACU, "failing or refusing, without compelling justification, to cooperate" in an ACU investigation, and "obstructing or delaying" the investigation by "concealing, tampering with or destroying any documentation or other information".

Thomas also faced a single charge under the ECB code for failing to disclose details of an approach made to indulge in corrupt conduct during the 2021 edition of Abu Dhabi T10, when he was a part of the Pune Devils team.

The remaining two charges are from the last two editions of the CPL when he played for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and Barbados Royals, respectively. One of the charges concerns, again, failing to disclose an approach. The second charge is about failing to report the "receipt of any gift, payment, hospitality or benefit (a) that he knew or should have known was made in order to procure a breach of the CPL Code, or (b) could have brought the player or the game of cricket into disrepute".

Although WI won 3-0 , I have some serious doubts about their ability to qualify for the WC.

The way in which the middle order collapsed at times means we have some serious batting problems.

The bowlers need to understand strategic thinking and how to bowl out their opponents.

I see Sammy using technology so hopefully he will be able to come up with a plan that the players will follow.

My issue with the recently concluded series and the upcoming qualifiers is

The team that featured in the UAE series would be very different from the team that is going to try and qualify for the cup.

The idea of the UAE series was to experiment with batting order, bowling changes, gelling of a team etc...now you going and bring about 5 or 6 "new players" to try something again...

My 4 cents

Did Green really take that catch or did the ball hit the ground?

Umpire said fingers were under the ball.

Good point, at least 6 different players will join up with the squad.
Players who've impressed on this tour (albeit UAE) like Sinclair and Athanaze are not in the Qualifier squad.
When u have players like Brooks, Chase, Carty, Carriah etc making the team, the squad doesn't look impressive.
Athanaze looks better than most of the other batters including J. Charles. Sinclair is a better spinner than Chase and Carriah and is also handy with the bat lower down the order.

ODI - Warm-up #1- WI v Scotland

WI - 264 all out - Shai Hope 57 (49 0vers). Scotland to bat.

Looks like Scotland have lost 3 wickets but very difficult to verify at the moment.

Okay looks like Scotland - 46/2

Scotland 57/2 (13 overs)

Meanwhile in the other games - watch these score, eh:

Zimbabwe - 367 / 6 v Oman

Satisfied?

India have been fined 100 per cent of their match fee and Australia 80 per cent of their match fee for maintaining slow over-rates in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 Final at The Oval.

Yup They did.

India was fined 100% of its match fee plus Shubman Gill was fined an additional 15% (so he had to put out money to pay) for putting the catch on Twitter.

Australia was fined 80% of its match fee.

Bruv you really reading into these games?
Teams are not named beforehand, the batting XI doesn't necessarily have to bowl and vice versa.
There isn't really much to go on except to see how ppl handle the conditions.
