The rain wash out in the first Ireland Bangladesh match a few days ago confirmed South Africa as the 8th team of the ODI WC and essentially completes the Super League.

Ireland can still finish above WI in the table as well though.

West Indies has no place being No. 9 on that list.

They should be No. 11 at best.

^ WI get the easier group though.

Group A has three test teams and Ireland defeated them in the last ODI series played between both sides and that was here in the Caribbean.

Those are perfect teams for WI to beat up on. Hope will swell his average, men in the middle order could feast and bowlers could get some wickets on the cheap. The coach will then say we turn a corner.

Then they would go Indian and barely bat 50 overs on a consistent basis.

Let's see if WI A have the killer instinct to finish off Bangladesh by lunchtime tomorrow (final day) and chase about 150-200 to win the 2nd unofficial test.

Bangladesh leads by about 102 runs with 6 wickets down.

IPL final today with the washout yesterday

No West Indians in the starting XIs but Odean Smith in the subs for Titans and could be a super sub at some point.

FINALLY that shitty IPL is over and done with. Now we can finally get back to watching real international cricket again with our own regional / national players on the team.

WI vs UAE match begins this Sunday FYI.

Why you so bai?

Well, let's see how the seniors do this weekend. I am happy with the mettle shown by the A team though.

WI really needs more A team tours to get exposure to other conditions so they don't look like fish outta water when they get picked for the senior team and go on tour. Our cricketers are decent up until Under 19 level, then the vast difference in coaching, preparation and experience in foreign playing conditions start to show.

I guess CWI will say they don't have enough funding for regular A team tours..... but the directors never have problems finding money to pay themselves.

THIS x 10,000

In US$ to boot.

I would rather invest in our A Team and Under 19's so they can transit easily into the senior team and not struggle, than what we have now.

The issue is whether the WI senior selectors would be inclined to start blooding some of these young ones for the future.

Now reading that Darren Sammy doesn't actually have his coaching credentials.
Very West Indianish indeed.

New West Indies white-ball head coach Daren Sammy has hit back at critics of his hiring as coach. Sammy, a former West Indies captain who led the regional side to World T20 triumphs in 2012 and 2016, was hired earlier this month as coach of the West Indies ODI and T20I sides despite not having a level 3 coaching certificate.

The former all-rounder previously coached Pakistan Super League (PSL) outfit Peshawar Zalmi in 2020 and 2021 before returning for the 2023 season. He also coached the St. Lucia Kings in the 2022 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Despite this, critics have said his hiring as Windies head coach sets a bad precedent but the 39-year-old says he is “blocking out the noise” and focusing on the task at hand, returning the West Indies back to the top of the white-ball game.

“I’ve made it known; coaching was not something I aspired to do during my playing days but it’s a role that actually chose me. I’m a work in progress. I am aware of all those things,” Sammy said during a press conference on Friday.

“I understand the challenges ahead of me but I also believe in the impact and the effect that I could have on this generation right now and I will not let my lack of a certificate stop me from taking on the challenges that I know that I’m equipped to handle,” Sammy added before clarifying that he has, in fact, began the process of attaining the certificate.

“I have already started the process to be certified and, during that process, working with the West Indies team, working with further developing myself as a coach in terms of the qualifications needed,” he said.

“Don’t think for one minute that I will ever question myself that I’m not fit to do this job,” Sammy added.

His first two assignments will come next month when the West Indies battle the UAE in three ODIs from June 4-9 before they head to Zimbabwe to take part in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers from June 18-July 9.

Now coming to post this.

I don't know when next WI will play England but when they do I hope the WI have the mental fortitude to stand up to Bazball.

England giving Ireland plenty leeks - Ireland 172 / England 509/3
