Only three?? Well then Netherlands is the SA A. One of their early matches they had five or six South African born players.

Namibia also probably doesn't pull that team from a pool of 2.4 m but much less given the culture and cost of cricket

Or a more apt name might be South Africa A given how much South Africans they have.

Only 3, most notably David Wiese who actually played for SA, all 3 have at least 1 Namibian parent.
With a population of just over 2.5 million, i was actually surprised they made it into the final 12.
Ireland failed to qualify.

AND so it begins. First T20 World Cup match for West Indies starts soon. Any predictions cricket aficionados?

England: 1 Jason Roy, 2 Jos Buttler (wk), 3 Dawid Malan, 4 Jonny Bairstow, 5 Liam Livingstone, 6 Eoin Morgan (capt), 7 Moeen Ali, 8 Chris Woakes, 9 Chris Jordan, 10 Adil Rashid, 11 Tymal Mills

West Indies: 1 Evin Lewis, 2 Lendl Simmons, 3 Chris Gayle, 4 Nicholas Pooran (wk), 5 Shimron Hetmyer, 6 Kieron Pollard (capt), 7 Andre Russell, 8 Dwayne Bravo, 9 Akeal Hosein, 10 Ravi Rampaul, 11 Obed McCoy

WI only playing 1 spin bowler? :?

Chase being omitted makes no sense, he was the highest run scorer in the recent CPL and also the recent warm up matches too. He would've also added a 2nd spin option opposite Hosein. WI think tank is empty as usual.

WI 9-2. No surprises here. Both Simmons and Lewis out. We won't be making 120.

Simmons struggling awhile now, i think if they insist on playing Gayle, then let him open, and include Chase 1 down

They won't have 2 left handers opening. Most likely Fletcher replaces Simmons, to open with Lewis and Gayle stays at No. 3. Either way not looking good for WI. They have been poor in the 2 warm up world cup matches which they lost. As a team their form is poor.

Gayle and Lewis have opened alot of innings together, for both Wi and SKNP, they had some good partnerships, before Gayle's consistency started to fade away

That's the price u pay for leaving out the only batsman who could stabilize the innings, the T20 game like all the other formats have evolved but WI for whatever reason decide to remain the same, a batting line up of only bit hitters

We're lucky we didn't have to go through that qualifying phase. Namibia, Scotland , Ireland etc would have embarrassed us.

Not surprised at all. The signs were there.

I only watched the first over, went to sleep, got up at 12, looked at the score and laughed.

I will be surprised if WI win a single game in their group.

Until they stop this crap about having different fitness levels for different players - is salt.

Chase and Fletcher needs to come in next match. Don't really care who they drop at this point to bring those 2 in.

Alot of persons laughed at Chase when he scored a run a ball 50 vs Afghanistan, WI made 133/5 in that game a few day ago.
Now everyone seeing the importance of that innings, although they still lost, the power hitters have to bat around him the same way they did when Samuels was in the team.
