WI cricket still stuck in the 80's, dependent on raw natural talent only whilst associate teams on the rise and surpassing us. Two 'upsets' already at the start of this tournament.
Need better coaches and thinking captains, Pooran/Simmons are really poor...

^ You may consider them upsets but as I see WI and SL as naturally among the level of those associates. Its really business as usual IMO. One Associate beat a Test Playing Associate in each case.

Also and not to beat a dead horse, I raised the point earlier and mentioning it again - Scotland batted 42 dots, WI batted 52 and that's with being bowled out with an over and a half to spare. Mark Nicholas couldn't call them duncy without being called out on Racism but I am saying it - WI cricketers are dunces!!!!!

The age of the big bashers ended a few years ago and the age of strategy and running is now.

that's exactly y i put the inverted commas :D cuz to me that's not a big surprise as a lot of media is making it out to be.
Anyone who's been following WI cricket lately would have seen how far we've regressed since winning that 2016 t20 WC.
You would win the odd game here and there but not consistently with that old brute force approach as the game has changed since.
If u notice the Scotland players and management had papers with the weaknesses of each player. They obviously studied our team. I'm sure WI went in to that game expecting an easy win with little planning or strategy.

Why am I not surprised by this loss against Scotland? Another game coming up for Wi vs ZIM on Wednesday at 4AM, another loss no doubt. I doubt they will win 1 game. Waste of money, time and resources that could've been used elsewhere in the caribbean.

Apparently is only the WI cricket team treating sports as just a game still.
Regardless of the sport,... cricket, football, etc., you cannot win a game just based on the talent of players alone. Sports is now a science and well studied. Its just how it is now. Everything is based on strategy and planning. All those WI players were playing competitive cricket for the last few months, yet you see dem fellas playing football and catching practice. Yes that is important but dem fellas should be sitting with strategist ananlysing every player from the opposition, studying them like is a final exam.

That is the job of the Coaching staff who are totally clueless. Do they have laptops for analysis? Do they have analysis software?

As others said before, Simmons eating ice cream while WI collapsing.

Coaching staff must strategize and then let the team implement and be willing to modify strategy as game progresses.

How the hell could Pooran choose to bowl first on a pitch helpful to the fast bowlers but open with Hosein and the other fella.

Holder and Joseph should have been the go to for exploiting the conditions.

When WI fails to qualify for the main T20 tournament, then I hope all involved resigns from their relative positions. Coach, Management, Directors, Captain etc...

When WI fails to quality tomorrow after losing to ZIM, that'll actually be a weight off my shoulders as I won't have to watch them in the main tournament fumble and look clueless against those superior teams.

There's still a chance they qualify. In this format, one batsman can get going and win a game, or 1 bowler can have a good spell. However, I won't be waking up early to watch West Indies. Too many memories of doing that in the past and being disappointed plus sleep deprived the next day

Whoever still gets up early or wake out late sacrificing their health from lack of sleep to watch WI cricket needs to get their heads examined.

From 10th October
bluefete wrote:So WI beat UAE but I am not impressed. Look at the scorecard (BOTH SIDES BATTED WITH 12 MEN) and our chances of qualifying beyond the 1st round are very slim.

9 WI players made SINGLE FIGURES.

WI - 152/9 (King 64, Pooran 46 / Siddique 5/13) UAE - 135/6 (Waseem 69, Farid 29 n.o / Reifer 3/17)

Yannick Cariah got injured while batting and did not bowl. He might be out for a while.

What is the rational behind some of the WI decision making?

Kyle Mayers has been taken to the cleaners opening the bowling - last four games he has bowled 6 overs for 81 runs and taken no wickets. Jason Holder in those last 4 games has only bowled his allocation of 4 overs once.

Why drop King when he looked better than Lewis in the last game?
Is Odean a better batsman than Hosein? If so why is he coming in later?

Play to whatever limited strengths you have nah.

King was ill...
Pooran doesn't utilize his bowlers well...NRR will come in to play, especially if rain affects the games on Fri.

Kinna figured something was up with King.

WI better hope as the forecast is for rain in Hobart on Fri as well as intense rain in Sydney and Melbourne Sat and Sun as the real tournament kicks off.

From Cricinfo:

In order, Scotland has the best NRR in the group followed by Zimbabwe, West Indies and Ireland.

So if all games Friday are washed out, then Scotland and Zimbabwe advance.

If the West Indies v Ireland match is played but the Scotland v Zimbabwe match is washed out, then it'll be the winner of West Indies v Ireland advancing with Scotland.

If West Indies v Ireland is washed out and Scotland v Zimbabwe is played, then I'll be West Indies advancing with the winner of Scotland v Zimbabwe. Make sense?!

Didn't expect WI to pull off an upset against Zimbabwe at all. Do we now have a chance of the winning the entire World Cup?

In all seriousness hoss I was truly shocked at the results. I genuinely thought that ZIM would've put the final nail on us. WI keep dragging fans along with them to keep watching them in the tournament for more matches further giving them more misery. It's best they had been knocked out today.

Namibia started with that high, beating Sri Lanka and now they are out the WC.
Just couldn't do it against the UAE losing by 7 runs.
NRR wouldn't have mattered once they won.

Tomorrow is WI's turn
