was just browsing through ps3 forum and almost every user that updated to 4.0 has been having issues with their consoles,

As of last nite, I'm having issues logging into PSN as well. No problems before then. Thought it was a problem with my network at home, and just gave up after about 15 mins.

After seeing this thread, I'm beginning to wonder if the update affected me. Funny though because after the last update, it was logging in fine.

I played a couple times within the last couple days (after the last update) and had no problems logging in.
Only last nite the problem started with my PS3.

Will try again later tonite and see if it still happening. Not sure what to do if I still have problems though - not like I could reinstall the update, since I can't log on to PSN in the first place

download & save from a pc with a flash drive...
