A BOWL of hot corn soup was the weapon used by a vendor to rob a man of his jewelry at Cocoyea Village, San Fernando.
The victim, a 22-year-old man of Marabella, told police the incident occurred around 4.30 a.m. on Saturday while he was waiting for a taxi at the Naparima-Mayaro Road.
The victim said he was standing in the vicinity of the Cocoyea Supermarket when a 21 year-old vendor of Springland, Tarodale, Ste Madeleine, threw a bowl of corn soup on him.
The suspect then grabbed the victim's gold chain and pendant valued $11,000.
He was held a short distance away after a struggle with residents who chased after him.
The man is expected to appear in court today.
