It happened to me with a small bottle, but I actually saw where a worm chewed through the plastic threads on the cap.
I saw the web stuff under the cap so I assumed a moth laid eggs there and after it hatched it smelled and chewed it’s way up. I have big bottles of paprika and use a large Nescafé coffee bottle with secure threads on the cap and it never happened again.

it's a plague in the supermarkets.
You get that same web/moth/larva thing in oats, rice, cereal, milk.

I check everything I buy. If I picking up cereal, I opening the box by the cashier to double check.

Add quinoa, macaroni, chia seeds. All of those things I had to throw out b/c of the web like stuff and mothy looking creatures found in them.

I now keep as much stuff as possible in the freezer and reduced the size of the other items bought, that we use infrequently (no more Pricesmart sized stuff)

yup, I stopped buying monthly quantities of grain and pasta because of that. Sometimes it's in the pack and not at webbing stage.
I have a Chinese grocery 1 min walk, so I just duck in and pick up what I need the day before. Might spend a couple dollars more per month, but I certainly saving more than that by avoiding waste.

those are a kind of moth and they eat through packaging and they're everywhere local.

What i was talking about was contaminated at the source where they picked the red bell peppers. The bottle was capped properly and it was a strong plastic bottle so nothing bite through it.

The beetle eggs just remain dormant for a long time in your product half a world away, and them once the temperature is right they start hatching. They really looked like clumped mold, it was only under the microscope I got a good view of them crawling around and it was revolting. Because they were always there! I ate them before!

Example from reddit:

Today I just learned that Mexicans and southern Texans call regular fry bake/roti "sopapillas."

Plain sopapillas (fry bake) and honey is a regular breakfast/dessert item in Mexico.

You can use a dry (not sweet) sherry instead.
Not cooking sherry. If you can't drink it from the bottle you should not use it to cook.

he might be talking about fish sauce, which you can also get at wing sing or sinceres
looks very similar but very different, made from rotten fish
a real umami kicker
