Potential to be one of the best races of the season.
LH vs Max
Seb and Alonso starting at the back
Ferrari vs McL
Bottas with the fastest car starting 9th

Great race today.
Max showed he has what it takes. Drove the last few laps brilliantly.
Seb cut through..FA vs Alfa was interesting, as was the McL Ferrari battle.
Bottas vs Sainz in the end was phenomenal also.

That was a nail biter. Looks like RB called merc's strategy when they pitted early and forced them to go long. A gamble that could have gone either way but Verstappen didn't put a foot wrong. I loving the McL and SF battle for third though.

Lewis was gaining a 0.4 seconds every lap, but once he reached behind max and was in the dirty air, he was unable to make any ground. From that moment we all knew the race was over.

Next year's car hopefully fixes the problem of being able to follow with the way the wake is sent upwards instead of behind.

Also COTA has too many fast sweeping corners like Maggots/Becketts and Chapel or the Senna S. They look good, but you can never pass there.

No different to Max at the start...was clearly faster than LH but couldn't pass even in drs. Became clear to rbr that track position was the way to go rather than raw speed. W

Total shite again today for Bottas as he gets rear ended and spun out from pole to dead last, then an 11.7 sec pit stop after clawing his way to 9th. He need a bush bath yes.

Really happy for Checo, first podium before your home crowd....what a momentous occasion!
Verstappen proves yet again that RedBull gives you wings...soab was flying once again!

Real hard luck for Bottas :(
Bottas made room for Hamilton and ended up in a collision.
Max showing he has the guts needed. He took a risk going extra late on the brakes overtaking Hamilton on the first corner with a full tank of gas, relative cold tyres and brakes.

Says alot about Wolff and LH how they've thrown VB under the bus after y'day when the guy made such a clear effort to let LH through and protect his rear

After that spin in T1, that went out the window.

VB was only good for taking the fastest lap away from Max.

Don't be surprised if toto pulls a binotto and treats LH as they treated Seb once it becomes clear George is faster

LH under investigation for DRS opening too high. Explains the huge gap with him and not only Max but VB as well

They postponed judgement till the morning. Load of nonsense imo - a technical infringement has no gray area - if Seb was dsq for a tiny bit less of fuel, this should be the same.

I think they delayed because video came out with Max touching or checking Hamilton's rear wing after qualifying and since that section is considered to be parc ferme, that isn't allowed.

Max used his hulk like strength to sabotage the rear wing.

If it fails scrutineering now it's Red Bull's fault.

Predictions anyone?
My guess is Ham to the back of the sprint grid and Max with a 5 place grid penalty for either race.
That said, horner made it clear there's lots of precedence for drivers touching others' cars under parc ferme with no consequence, but I doubt FIA will risk appearing one sided and let max off.

Stupid of Max really to touch the car/cars but yea, i’m thinking Ham will start at the back of the sprint grid and Max to get a 5 place grid penalty for the sprint, can’t say about the GP. this is dragging on way too long for a decision

Okay fellers- please explain this to me carefully because my conspiracy theorist mind is going into overdrive here.

Did Max touching the rear wing affect its capabilities in anyway, to cause the maximum to go out of whack?

If it did not, why fine him 50,000 euros? If it did, why not put him to start at the back with H instead of a 50K euros fine and no place penalty?

Why put LH at the back end of the grid to start, if Max was in the wrong?

Did Mercedes try a thing and got caught with that rear wing?

Ham back of the sprint race. Wherever he ends up at the end of the sprint, add 5 places and thats where he starts tmrw.
I just hope VB doesn't take out Max today.

An F1 rear wing can withstand over 1000lbs of force. Max can't alter it's structure. He was fined for touching when he shouldn't have, but not for altering anything.

LH would have gained a speed advantage by a larger DRS, therefore his time is null and void, meaning it's the same result as if he didn't go out at all in Friday qualifying - therefore he starts last.

Both decisions independent of each other.

Just have a bad feeling that Bottas will have a huge roll to play in the sprint race and the gp… just hoping he doesn’t do something stupid to take out Max

Thank you. I also just read where Max touched it after Hamilton had done his qualifying. But as you wrote - two events independent of each other. Appreciated.

There's a fan vid circulating on social media with max checking the spacing on his then LH's. Fia used the rear camera on LH's halo cockpit for evidence.

Two interesting rumours...
1. The gap was fine on the ends, but significantly larger (15mm the distance bring thrown around) in the middle...which explains why LH was so much quicker
2. RBR lodged a private query at the end of FP1, which means Merc would have had the data and still left it on LH (equivalent of knowingly cheating). This is given credence by the fact Max went straight to check after quali.

IF that's the case and RBR can prove, Merc can be in alot more trouble than simply a quali dsq.
