RED BAND Maxi Taxi Short Drops = $5.00

Postby bluefete » March 22nd, 2013, 2:18 pm

It seems that all short drops on the red band maxi taxi's will soon cost passengers $5.00. This is a whopping 67% INCREASE in fares!!!

Apparently the rationale is to punish passengers for the inability of the maxi taxi association and the government to rein in those touts who charge $6.00 for a trip from Arima to Curepe then throw everyone out at Curepe and pick up a fresh load from Curepe to POS and vice versa.

There is a simple solution to this problem. Those maxis who only want to run POS - Curepe / Tunapuna - give then a separate car colour for those areas only. If they are caught driving outside of their areas - ban or fine them.

Imagine a short drop in 'Round The Town' taxis (cars) in San Fernando now costs $5.00

BRB - Gotta go look for a good pair of "short drop" walking sneakers.

We so need more buses in Trinidad.. Til then I will just have to enjoy the $12/day to drive to work where it would cost $22 to take public transport.

btw heres a source: http://ctntworld.com/cnews2/index.php?o ... m=facebook

The Route 2 Maxi Taxi Association has distanced itself from a T&T Mirror article which suggested that maxi fares have been reduced.

The President of the Route 2 Maxi Taxi Association, Mr. Linus Phillip, said comments attributed to Arima Maxi Taxi Association President, Mr. Lincoln Cumberbatch, in the article do not reflect the stance of his Association.

The article suggested that maxi taxi fare had been reduced from $6 to $5 but Mr. Phillip explained that only the Route 2 Maxi Taxi Association has the authority to adjust the fare structure.

The fare structure is reviewed every three years by his Association and Mr. Phillip admitted that several drivers were duped by the article and had started using the reduced fare. He apologised for the misinformation fed to the public.

Mr. Phillip labeled the Arima Association a "rogue group" motivated by money and disinterested in serving the traveling public's interest.

He questioned the motives of the Arima Maxi Taxi Association, claiming the suggestion that the planned $5 fare to go anywhere on the bus route would aid 'short run' maxi drivers rather than discourage them.

He said as it stands, the proposed fare would take money away from drivers who ply the full route (Arima, La Horquetta to Port of Spain etc) and members of the public traveling "short" on the bus route would pay more.

The current short drop fare is $3 while other distances short of the "full trip" have varying fares of $4 to $5

Concerning the short drop issue, Mr. Phillip called on the Ministry of Works to intervene.

He also called on the Ministry of Transport to review the current structure of City Gate, which he called "a dump."

Yodins Kickin een - idk about that whole $5 ting nah. Daddy have contract so is rare for him to pull a hustle due to:
1) too much pr1cks shorting him money
2) too much guntas doin what guntas do best
3) ppl doh wanna travel in ole big maxis with no AC so it kinda embarassin when you taking 15 mins to scrape a 18/21 seats when a new bus go come an full up behind you before you.

Honestly I fine the $3 was ideal for short drops. But it hard or us men who have 1 ole maxi vs. dem men who does have all kinda 5-10 new bus. Maybe if they raise it then daddy go start back. I gettin my licence in May and goin for Heavy T as soon as 2 yrs pass. then as 21 hit is Taxi badge time 8-) :fist:

I will find out though. Where Bizarre though?

if true, it wont make sense to join d line in city gate with ah big rosa. jus hustle up and down d bus route. Unless all fares go up by $2 more too.
