MovieTowne gets top billing in $450m project
MovieTowne will up the ante in entertainment in San Fernando in the near future. In its 11th year of operations, MovieTowne, the Caribbean’s number one entertainment and shopping complex will be expanding and bringing its unique blend of exciting attractions to Corinth, San Fernando in South Trinidad.
This will mark MovieTowne’s fourth location in T&T. The MovieTowne franchise is wholly owned, developed and operated by local Trinidadian businessmen and continues to lead the way in the entertainment arena because its founders never stop innovating and evolving the concept by consistently offering something spectacular for all citizens to enjoy.
MovieTowne South will be located on an 18-acre real estate development to be known as the C3 Shopping and Entertainment Centre that will be constructed by the J.T. Allum Group of Companies. This project will also feature the latest location of the Super Centre J.T.A. Supermarket chain and MovieTowne will be the main anchor of this development and is expected to be the star attraction.
Speaking on behalf of the J.T. Allum Group, Christopher Mack, Managing Director said: “The C3 Shopping and Entertainment Centre will be a world class development that would allow families to spend a safe and enjoyable time with the most modern and sophisticated of amenities.”
The project, which is expected to cost $450 million, will revolutionise the landscape of entertainment in the southland. It will include a sprawling two storey development with a movie theme building façade with design elements similar in scope and scale to the flagship MovieTowne entertainment and shopping complex at Invaders' Bay, Port of Spain. The complex will also comprise themed streets, restaurants, boutiques, a live entertainment area, an anchor Super Centre JTA. Supermarket and many other attractions.
The MovieTowne Cineplex will include eight world-class, luxurious theatres with a total of 2500 seats with the most technologically advanced audio visual theatres. Project development is expected to start by the middle of this year, 2013, with a target completion date of end 2014/early 2015.
Speaking about his vision, MovieTowne entrepreneur and Chairman, Derek Chin explained: “We believe in our MovieTowne brand and we know that people enjoy the concept and experience. We are committed to making our brand available to more and more of the citizens in T&T and the wider Caribbean.” MovieTowne has also committed to a deal that will expand the MovieTowne franchise outside of T&T to Guyana. This project is also expected to break ground in 2013.
