This 1005.9lbs fish was caught today in Tobago. It is the new record for the largest Blue Marlin caught in Trinidad and Tobago waters. Congratulations to Brendan Bernard and team PREDATOR !!! - Steven Valdez

Weight: 1,376 pounds

Angler: Jay de Beaubien

Location: Kaaiwai Point, Kona

Date: May 31, 1982

Notes: This Hawaiian blue took a Kita lure and succumbed in less than one hour. Jay de Beaubien caught this 193-inch fish using a Fin-Nor 12/0.

Not sure about the world record, but a villager caught one 2 years back weighing 850 or somewhere thereabout.Took them about 3 boats to bring it in.

Checked, largest Atlantic blue weighed 1402 lbs :shock:

Seriously tho, what do they do with these record catches? They chop it up and sell it as usual?

That's a lot of chopping and selling. Many people got PLENTY free fish. The Majority was stored in one of those big freezers and processed the next day
