Dansteel or Bhagwansinghs have. I use that on my wooden roof rack and the wood handles the elements without any signs of degradation..

Yes it works, used it on the wooden door on my tool shed. Works best if you can sand down and clean the area properly first. Get the clear multipurpose one, in case you dont use the entire can you can coat other stuff as well.

For supporting planks of purple heart wood for an 800 gallon tank . I used and general sealer let it dry and put on 3 coats of and non industrial varnish . It depends in the quality of wood and the finish you want . Purple hart is a hard wood and cutting it with a hand saw takes some effort , jig saw as well.
