I shipped a hoverboard for someone and it was collected but they havent taken it from me yet.
But i saw a pkg show up as received in miami and sent to hazmat.
I bussing my brains all how trying to figure out what i order that was hazmat
Collected it today, was the battery for the hoverboard
Apparently the cant ship batteries anymore.
So they took out the battery from the box and shipped it seperately.
Anyone had any similar experience?
Thats why i askedKenjo wrote:*KRONIK* wrote:Question

Varies with the company shipping so people usually get away when they have never noticed the batteries warning for air shipping . But yes this is a known thing .

I have ordered stuff before with batteries, even actual batteries too and never had any issue.
So i was wondering why....

I was asking elsewhere and was told that if the battery is under a certain capacity it can go as a normal shipmentsMASH wrote:*KRONIK* wrote:Thats why i askedKenjo wrote:*KRONIK* wrote:Question

had ordered fone batteries before np. but after that, i saw a notice from csf that batteries were hazmat or sumting.
brought in a fone and collected last week, and it was np with the miami to me time quite swift compared to a couple months ago.
I throw away the big box thocarluva wrote:Anything with a LiIon or LiPo battery is considered Hazmat. The shipping box will be prominently labelled "UN3481", which is the code developed by worldwide shipping and transport bodies.
Once so on labelled, shippers have to take special precautions.
Aeropost told me that such packages ate brought in on a special flight and not the normal commercial flights. That adds to the delay in shipping.
Iirc and I do stand corrected, that shipping code requires the batteries to be connected to the device or safely and properly packaged if not connected.
In your case, it's the first I have heard if something like that happening, but it does not seem surprising or unusual given the item in question.

they had to thoroughly inspect it before releasing.
