THE son of television presenter Marcia Henville appeared in the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court yesterday on five charges, including possession of a shotgun and eight rounds of ammunition.
Chioke Henville, 19, appeared before Magistrate Melvin Daniel in the Fourth (B) Court also charged with breaching a no-entry sign, driving without a valid permit and driving without insurance.
He appeared before Daniel around 10.30 a.m. for the offences which are alleged to have taken place on Monday afternoon along the Eastern Main Road, San Juan.
His mother, who is the host of Point Blank on CCN TV6, and several other family members were present in court when the matter was called.
Henville pleaded not guilty to all five charges. He was represented by attorneys Keith Scotland and Alexia Romero.
In her application for bail, Romero told the court that Henville, who lives with his parents at Santa Margarita in St Augustine, was a past student of Trinity College and an avid football player.
Romero further added that her client had a clean criminal record as he had never been in trouble with the law.
She said her client’s parents had a property deed in their possession to be used in order to secure the bail bond if one was granted.
Police prosecutor Sgt Joseph Logan said the prosecution was not objecting to bail, but he asked that the bail be one of a cash bond.
Henville was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 to be approved by a Clerk of the Peace or a cash alternative also in the sum $10,000.
He is to reappear in court on February 4.

All yuh fellas laughing at this. I feel badly for this lady. Sometimes having a wayward kid is a challenging thing to deal with as a parent. It was good to read that his family was in court. Hopefully with the right level of family support and guidance this youth can turn his life around. The last thing we need in this country is another criminal.
