A community of squatters in Valencia are clamoring for water and lights.
They say if the government doesn't heed to their requests they would protest.

What gets me is that we who have paid and are paying huge mortgages, land tax and utilities MUST pay or we run the risk of forfeiting. While so many just throw up a 12'x12' on somebody land and want to levy the authorities to assist them while claiming victimisation.

bro, is big businessmen involved in that squatting thing too... the send one of their workers to live on said land for years and after boom... big concrete plant, truck yard, shitt trucks.. gone up on the land...on the UBH south bound lane between freeport and couva for example.

i can't remember the time frame, but they get something call a certificate of comfort, when the receive that, they can get an address, lights, water connection, etc.

Look at it this way...plenty old squatter locations are now regularized parts of towns e.g. Curepe by the old "train line".....how many of those big houses were once squatter shacks?
Once you're willing to suffer a lil hardship for a few years you can get a nice piece of land free in this country....political will to enforce the law is zero.
