The influx of high powered automatic weapons is one of the keys to this current violent crime problem, at least there should be more focus on that? I refuse to believe that the majority of these weapons are getting in the country without the help of corrupt officials.

Whatever happened to that central warehouse where they found so many weapons? The owner was ever squeezed, or the people who allowed the container to pass through the port and onto the transport truck.... nothing? The port scanners? Why Trinidad have to be so?

Because money talks in this country..... you as an individual can go on the port pass money to get your barrel or shipment faster , you feel the big boys not doing that on a bigger scale to let shipments come in unchecked. Lewwe be real. Guns and drugs benefit a certain percent in this country and the masses buy such from them. The cycle will continue.

Six relatives of late contractor Hafeez Karamath have been charged with possession of guns, ammunition and dangerous drugs.

They are expected to answer charges for the possession of 18 high-powered rifles and a quantity of marijuana which were seized from the Valsayn mansion of the contractor. Other items found were assault rifles, including a range of AK-47s, long range sniper rifles, a gas mask converted to a drug pipe and other drug apparatuses, jam jars containing illicit narcotics including powerful hallucinogenic drugs along with compressed marijuana.

CUNUPIA BUSINESSWOMAN KILLED BANDIT

There are reports that around 1pm on Saturday 8th October, 2022 a lone gunman entered ASACO plant shop, agricultural supplies and seedling company located at Warren Road Cunupia and demanded that the female proprietor handed over the cash.

The suspect then took the proprietor to another room where he relieved her of cash and jewellery.

The proprietor then drew her licensed firearm and fired several shots at the suspect who then fell to the ground and died.

Police are presently on the scene...
