It was only a matter of time before some deadly virus caused a world wide epidemic
.....sad thing its ebola....probably the most highly contagious and lethal

This can also be quite scary if terrorists decide to use an infected person like a suicide bomber

Why did you expect this to happen considering that all previous outbreaks over the last 38 years have been contained relatively quickly regardless of strain type?

Ebola is similar to the flu. Initial symptoms are similar. Transmission is the same. Death toll was high in the past with the flu. Worst epidemic in history. The Black Death was nothing compared to it.

The 1918 flu epidemic. Just after WWI ended. 500 million people infected. 50-100 million died. Transmission the same as ebola.

Yes things can get really bad if they go unchecked. But we do have modern medicine, modern communication, modern germ theory and quarantine on our side in 2014. It is up to governments to be effective and stringent about their procedures. Visit the history books and learn from what happened in 1918-1920.

Becuase of the virulence seen in the transmission rates and the subtle increases in spread statistics increase in death rate, epidemiolgical progression, then the introduction across statr borders in west africa...... tgis was seen since january and then by april the spread trend was said to be exponential and it did not at any time seem to slow down its progression

that boat anchored at Crews INN should be sent away!
No one should board that boat and they should not be allowed to set foot on land either!

Ghana? really? get out!

I was wondering what would happen with all the guys working in oil and gas etc across in that region.

Glad they are stepping up the measures to deal with the situation though.

Hopefully we get some kind of protocol to deal with all possible scenarios. This could get tricky.
