Which parts wont work with RHD Vehicles

Postby Skyline007 » December 7th, 2014, 12:29 am

For everyone who orders parts online.. Some parts are in the USA which they use Left Hand Drive Vehicles. Which Parts would not work on the same Vehicle down here that is Right Hand Drive?

Steering Rack- some racks can be reversed or flipped but thats just a few
Depending on vehicle, the Driver's door Master Switch
Headlight- the beam cut-off line is reversed therefore blinds oncoming drivers
Drivers seat- if powered with memory function, wont work correctly

Some parts although look the same...may have small differences in line ups and bolt holes
So do your research well

most good HID installers in T&T sell the correct RHD projectors with the correct cutoffs so you don't blind oncoming traffic

Its very easy to fix just turn the shield around. On non projectors you can use the adjustment screws to fix the cut off
Also some eBay sellers now offer both rhd and lhd headlights

Just the glass. Master cylinders are not necessarily different.
Please post an example if you know. The brake booster hose is usually different.

master cylinder brake line entry points can be different rhd to lhd.

a bunch of things can differ...

headlights point in a diff direction... yes... most that come from 'murica are pointing the wrong way for a RHD car country.

master cylinder, dashboard and most dash parts, window switch housings, steering rack, brake lines, clutch lines, wire harnesses, wing mirrors, steering column controls, a/c plumbing under dash, fuse boxes.

The list can go on a bit more, not every brand will follow that list to a tee... some cars are more 'interchangeable' than others.

The combination switch assembly - wipers/indicators is sometimes reversed

Somewhat off topic:
Some US edition cars come with different engines, which can rule out most engine type parts, cooling system, intake, exhaust etc. But this can vary widely by vehicle. Just something to look out for.

The one between the steering wheel and the engine, or between the steering wheel and the driver's seat? :|

I am also interested in knowing where to source RHD Hyundai Genuine parts online?

Who supplies the parts to Massy Motors?

Unfortunately a week ago someone stole my Right Side Mirror for my 2012 ix35 Tucson and the cost of replacing it at Massy is ridiculous!!! I am having difficulty finding the part online :(.

Any info would be much appreciated!

It was about $3100 just for the part. Then they will have to paint it and install which I assume will probably cost at least $800. So we looking at close to $4000 for everything!
