While I don't expect him to respond to every charge/accusation from the Opposition, this is a charge of misuse of State resources. I'm pretty sure if he had mentioned that he would be stopping in London for the fundraiser even before he left for Malta, and that it was a private affair, then we would have none of this discussion.
To do things differently, and to act more wisely and responsibly is the direction the "new politics" should be going.

Why should he follow in the same style of the previous administration?

join us on Friday July 9th 2010 at the Warehouse Ballroom in Lauderhill for a Cultural Evening in honor of the Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago.
Her visit comes at a time when many Trinidad and Tobago nationals living in Florida and the US continue to celebrate the phenomenal victory at the polls in May. The Prime Minister recognises the important role which friends and supporters in Florida and the US played in the elections and is looking forward to next week when she can say thank you in person.
Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar was here in January and April of this year for receptions and fundraisers also organized by UNC Florida Inc. UNC Florida Inc. was the first party group outside of Trinidad and Tobago to host Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar before she was the Political leader of the UNC and later as the Opposition Leader and Leader of the UNC.
So friends, come join us on Friday July 9th from 9 pm at the Warehouse Ballroom, 3500 NW 15th street, Lauderhill, Fl, 33311. The contribution to be part of this fundraising event is $100. Advance Tickets only. For Tickets and information please call 305.393.8721.

Politics is about winning people over, and KR could have done this by stating in advance that he was going to be attending the fundraiser. I know die hard anti-PNM peeps gonna never accept any explanation, but for the non-aligned or average citizen, it would seem as if there was something to hide.

Why are you guys beating up on Dragon. He is simply saying the proper management and articulation of information and guided responses by the PM would have created a better impression. This is a common tool used in all public relation strategies.
By the PM's poor responses, it further perpetuates the points of arrogance and stand off-fish which could have all been avoided. That's all

Former Minister of National Security Gary Griffith says the criticism of the Prime Minister’s trip to the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Malta is unfortunate.
Griffith says questions from United National Congress political leader hopeful Vasant Bharath concerning the funding available for Dr. Keith Rowley’s wife, Sharon Rowley to be part of the delegation, are meant to score cheap political points.
Bharath has recently said that he hopes the funding for her trip comes from personal finances and not tax payers.
However, Griffith says there is indeed a specific role and function for the spouse of a Prime Minister or Head of State, which includes representation and accompanying their spouse at overseas events, if available.
He says spouses can be regarded as public figures and they are therefore frequently expected to accompany the Prime Minister at public events.
Griffith questions why Bharath did not voice such objections when the previous Prime Minister included two hair dressers, two personal assistants, a communications officer, a public relations coordinator, three special advisors, one personal photographer, and one personal media reporter for foreign travel.
He also notes that a spouse plays a highly influential role as the advisor to the PM, even though they are not paid to do so.

The Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley-led Trinidad and Tobago delegation to the Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM) meeting in Malta will cost the taxpayer $1.1 million.
The ten-man delegation includes the Prime Minister’s wife, Sharon.
Communications Minister Maxie Cuffie yesterday contrasted this with the Kamla Persad-Bissessar-led delegation on the CHOGM trip to Australia which cost $3.2 million.
Her husband Dr Gregory Bissessar accompanied her to China in 2014.
Cuffie defended the cost to be incurred by Rowley, noting that the former government’s cost was three times higher.
This is why no one is taking KPB seriously she holds everyone else to a standard that she doesn't comply to.

Like having ministers of Nat sec own active security companies.
Or min of health that own private hospitals that benefit from a failed health. System.
I don't see the issue....it makes sense to use the fact that you already there to do as much as possible.
Saves time and resources.
Regardless of state visit or not
