National Security Minister Edmund Dillon is visiting the Customs and Immigration Sea Port in Cedros this afternoon.

Dillon arrived at the port at around 2p.m.

He is expected to get a first hand look at the operations on the ground regarding the arrival of Venezuelan nationals at the port.

At least 75 Venezuelans travel to Trinidad through the port in Cedros every two days for the past six months, due to the deteriorating conditions on the mainland.

This is a 500 per cent increase in the past two years, said chairman of the Siparia Regional Corporation Leo Doodnath, who visited the port last week along with the county medical officer, and had an informal meeting with Customs, Immigration, Coast Guard and the police.

Doodnath said the port was not built to accommodate so many travellers and immediate measures will have to be put in place.

The Venezuelans have been travelling to Trinidad to purchase grocery items and return home.

First time seeing that Dillon Minister walking out of office touring he should be shame ,that port no railings or proper covering ,looking anyone can fall in the sea , looking to see who going get the contract to upgrade .

Well it's becoming harder for marios to attract those hard working trinis .. so I give them a thumbs up and nothing wrong with ordering a pizza from a sexy chica than a nasty mampee

Hmm that's like I was in mass stores LA Romain and saw dem doing some heavy grocery shopping buying rel goods so in a way it's giving them a chance to eat and help themselves out.so in a way our economy would get increased in sales

I suspect very little...the mere fact Venezuelan Air Force planes collected the goods have me concerned as to its eventual distribution.

Maduro was having a big PR stunt yesterday and he instantly wanted the photo ops of him handing out Matouks ketchup.

But the food in Venezuela is always controlled. Whether Venezuelan C130's take it, it still ending up in govt groceries. We just have to take the money and have no moral opinion. Just like how US does trade with Saudi and turns a blind eye to human rights violations but chose to fly rainbow flags in Jamaica.
