2 days remaining on Prime trial. Will try and see if I could get some time and take in some of their boat themed episodes (not going to fall for saying Seamen in that line)

They looking reaaaaal old now sah.
I realized I watching them for what, damn near 18 years?>

Also also, I think most people enjoy the Specials more than the 'ordinary' episodes. So they're just sticking to making specials, and probably'll leave the reviews etc in other stuff, like drivetribe.

James May "Our Man in Japan" is released.

James May has always been intrigued and seduced by the idea of Japan, yet this nation and its culture remains a complete mystery to him. Now he's on a one-man mission to immerse himself in its society, places, and people in a bid to unlock its extraordinary secrets. By taking on an epic journey across all of Japan from north to south, James is determined to gain a genuine understanding into why this unique land and its people are the way they are, what drives their whole culture, and what their approach to life can teach the rest of us. So far so good, but it won't be easy. He can't speak the language, he's clueless about Japanese etiquette but at least he knows there's a small tree called a banzai... Not only that, but Japan is one of the most contradictory and confusing places on earth. Here, classical art forms and haiku poetry rub shoulders with Godzilla, Cosplay, and some of the strangest obsessions on the planet, while stunning, peaceful vistas of gently falling cherry blossom give way to neon lights, J-Pop, and frenetic urban environments. Fifteen years since he first visited as a baffled tourist, James is now ready to leap into the unknown and embark on a quest to reconcile these contradictions and to truly understand what makes Japan tick.

Thx for this..

James is the most interesting of the 3, and the only one who can really stand on his own. Like even the "The Reassembler" is epic. On their own, Jizza (eg some of his earlier car journal works) and Hams (the engineering shows he did, etc), are almost cringy. But all 3 together makes for a perfect adventure story; which is the formula they've (and we've?) settled on with TGT.

It's September 4th. Amazon lied.

-Update-
We recently received an email from The Grand Tour’s PR team explaining to us that IMBD made an error when publishing the launch date of September 4th onto its website. This, as stated in this article, has now been removed. We’ve been told that the Madagascar Special episode will not be released on the 4th of this month, with the real release date being confirmed to be later this year.
https://www.grandtournation.com/thegran ... m-website/

This might be the end of it all. Amazon doesn't care anymore. Doubt there will be filming for any other episodes.
The Madagascar episode was the last one filmed on Réunion Island and the finished edit was actually leaked on YouTube in December 2019 but quickly removed within hours. Plus James has expressed that he is not really interested in these absurd stunts anymore and you can see his attitude in the "Seamen" episode. So that's that. It has finally come to an end.

I'm watching it on my firestick.

Strangely though there weren't any ads or previews popping up on the home screen as they normally do, I had to go looking for it.

Some properly scary moments.

I wonder if the frozen lake scene was scripted.
I suspect they would not have left him if it wasn't.

I'm always surprised to see the generally minimal damages after their crashes in reviews and stuff as compared to the shitboxes we have here.
