Massy Motors will service it.

when an authorised dealership gets a new model or line of vehicles they are trained and tooled to service those vehicles from the parent company.

Massey can't even service a tiida properly. If you have ever been in their service waiting area, it is quite a den of gloom, depression, and hopelessness. This newfangled electro gizmo car is suited for our stop and go traffic so I hope it is actually a good car.

It’s more affordable than many might anticipate because there’s no duty, VAT or MVT - since it’s a Hybrid vehicle. With duty and taxes the price would have been closer to $240k, instead of the $169,900 for the basic model and 209,900 for the premium model.

I was told Massy’s technicians have been well trained, and servicing will need to go through Massy because of the technology involved. The cables under there are serious business.

Roadside assistance - Massy is said to be working with their partners to ensure they are well trained in providing any specialized roadside assistance the Ioniq may need.

Lol a premium Ioniq with duties, vat and other charges will still be cheaper than a discounted, non taxed, and even further discounted basic baby Prius C from Toyota

Agreed.

They could barely service the regular Hyundais without doing some nonsense.

Will the fuel savings be worth dealing with Massy's service?
And then you will probably only be able to service by them in the beginning.. considering their wait times to deal with critical safety issues like airbag malfunctions, who's ready to take the chance?

It's a gripe to service at Massy but then you have to ask yourself, if not them, then who else will do it?
It eh so good looking but it's a great start.....

The electric motor batteries are under the back seat so it won't take up any trunk space.

If there is a premium to pay to service these based on the technology then heaven help those who buy it because Mel's (Massy Hyundai) pretty pricey when working on regular vehicles.

Cables are just copper conductors... where is the "Serious Business" in that? That is like saying the gas line is "Serious Business" because you know, gas is flammable and poisonous. All vehicles are supposed to be serviceable one the proper procedures from the manufacturer are followed... but the tiida seems to defy that logic so I digress.. much less these new technofangled machines. I am usually against high-tech but I can see how these would reduce gas consumption in our gridlocked traffic. I need to open a garage for these since Massey is already spreading fear and misunderstanding about the technology right out the gate. Should be able to charge a pong and a crong for service.

Massy is doing that how? Seems more like commenters doing that because of their own grievances

"servicing will need to go through Massy because of the technology involved" .. as if it will be rocket science. I call that fear mongering to keep people from going to competent independent mechanics.

That's not fear mongering, that's an authorised Hyundai dealer telling you they will in-house service Hyundai's proprietary technology, it's normal in keeping with manufacturer warranty, buyers will always have a choice and the consequences of that choice
