Put the process online so no one could hold your physical file hostage or hide it in their car or home

Simple as that.

Phone,

T&T is topping the world with Covid and this is due to the outright and blatant irresponsibility of Trinis.

And they want firearms?

Madness

Once it have people who have the power to speed things up or delay it will have corruption.

All legal guns have to have their ballistics on file. Criminals who buy guns will get to use them once and then they easily found after.

If a criminal want a gun he getting it as it is anyway. Legal or illegal not stopping him

We need firearms like we need more cars on the road.

A gun is not a solution.
It's a tool.

What we need is more people that are responsible and proficient to use the tool properly.

Make a transparent and relevant process.
Establish training and recertification standards.
Get the ranges to manage the training testing and record keeping.
Penalize those who jackass the scene

Sure,
We talking about a system where if I do the 'Firearm 101' course and pass the test then I'm entitled to receive the license.
So the dealers only leverage is the test.
8f a range balzing up ...8 go somewhere else.

Add on an annual re cert, a bond, submit to random drug test etc and I think we have a good system that encourages this ting to be treated seriously by everyone.

in theory yes, but in this country there is no single govt appointed test body which is legit
far less for something involving guns with a long history of bobol from the top.

ppl will just pay money to pass the test.

What percentage of ford ranger drivers did a heavyT licenese test ?

The bobol comes because it's the absolute discretion of an individual.
That individual is able to set policy.

If the policy is that a license SHALL be issued if I meet these criteria, and the criteria is clear and well defined...then an individual wouldn't meet to pay x....cuz w,x,y,z, and 15 others are waiting to provide the service.

Compliance with any rules comes with enforcement...

We have to start somewhere

We have dumb laws that is suited for 1960s , in other countries a ford ranger is not classed as heavy T.

so far only the ranger and nissan panel van are heavyt

but all the other pickups are inching up to the heavyt category of mgw 2954kg, some are 2900

them officers must be licking they lips for when that time comes

While i wanna agree with you, up until the introduction of those 3.2 ranger/RORO hiace/new batch of NV350 that met the 2950KG + mark, there really never was the need for the average driver to have a class 4 permit.

So i dont really see an issue with it.

The dealers will keep them below the threshold, its been done before. Massy actually sold a batch of underweight NV350 from the 1st batch to keep them out of the class 4 range.

And having class 4 to drive a loaded vehicle i think is a plus.
Even tho the regulations exam for class 4 is pure kaka, if you take in some of the key points, it still covers handling of the loaded vehicle and wheel placement, braking etc. Which is different from the class 3 regulations.
So, putting the luxury of a 400k+ pickup that will never tote a full tray of load aside, the classification of permit by weight range is actually practical.

So with the right system....the FULL holder would have an insurance policy to pay for damages, he would have to submit to a drug/alco test.

All agreed to before he get the license

Yuh get yuh ting, get a good holster, don't be cheap

Redman,

Is it right to be carrying your firearm to a public space like a bar to begin with where intoxication is inevitable, his license should be revoked and I hope the lady survives to file a civil suit against him

ummm

it have a sign outside bars that bandits not allowed in or something?

or persons with firearms would ask the bandits to please kindly wait while they retrieve their weapons from their vehicle

if a business place searching customers and telling them they can't bring in their legal firearms, they better have some HEAVY security to protect patrons and not a overweight security with a baton and a pitbull who eh get eat in days

Once you accept liability and responsibility for what happens as a result-carry everywhere.

I dont agree that intoxication is inevitable when in a bar- Its your responsibility to conduct yourself appropriately.

Also- the guardian saying that the woman who was shot wasnt the FUL holder- she was shot when the holder was fixin his clothes.
