WTK: which restaurants have the best steaks?

Postby Epic Deals » December 11th, 2017, 4:32 pm

Hi tuners
Any recommendations on what are some of the best restaurants which serve a good steak?
Not looking any very high end places but reasonably priced places

OP stop bumping your own thread nah Ras. No 1 wants to help you because we all know the cow is sacred and should not be eaten.

Try some dhal, rice and smoke herring instead.

Prime has good ribeye and tenderloin, pricey, but it's good

But honestly, get your own meat and grill it yourself, salt black pepper, a clove or two of garlic, butter and rosemary, grill on high, both sides, remove from the grill when internal temp is 155°F for medium or cooler for medium rare and you good to go, in the comfort of your own home.

Blooms and Paul Grant have bone in ribeye, excellent cut for steak.

Trinis should not be served “best” steaks...they should not expect good service because of their stink attitude. Order the hard dry steak in sheit restaurants and stop harassing the customers and employees in high end joints.

You know, I had an opportunity to go there to celebrate a graduation, I was getting the largest cut they had too because it was a special celebration but I was too busy to make it.

Big missed steak.

I had the steak from imam steakhouse in barrakah grounds, chaguanas. Not too bad for the price. Was abt $160 for ribeye and two sides if i remember clearly. I had from paul grant as well but not a fan. Maybe i went on an off day.

I prefer to buy from Paul Grant's Butcher Shop and grill it myself, I'm not a fan of the seasoning he uses on the steak in the restaurant.

Are you sure it's a tenderloin you had?

Marbling is simply the fat which runs throughout the steak which is melted away during cooking. It is much more apparent in the other cuts of steak (ribeye, NY strip etc).

The tenderloin gets its name due to being quite tender. It's a pringles can shaped muscle on the back of the cow, which does little to no work it's entire life. It usually has little to no marbling and actually lacks any real beef flavour.

What the tenderloin is good at is absorbing the flavours it is cooked with (peppercorns + cream, bacon wrapped etc). It's also extremely easy to cut/eat as there is no gristle, fat line, bone to maneuver around.

He used to use Montreal steak seasoning
Dunno if he still does but it’s quite grainy and can burn.

I have given up on our local restaurants ability to serve-up 'a good steak' because of their inability to be consistent.
On too many occasions I have visited local steak houses with their first offering being magical and when I return with high expectations things go side-ways.
At this stage, I purchase my meat preferences and quite simply do it at home and sometimes enjoy a snooze of contentment.

the reality is the staff at the restaurants very likely eat their steak burnt beyond recognition
so you can't expect them to cook a quality piece of beef to any particular state rare, medium rare etc

How much (avg) does paul sells his steaks for..from the shop..and wat cuts he has?

Paul Grant steaks are a bit too salty for me, but the cuts are the best locally.
