firstly thanks so much for the insight you provided there i really appreciate it.skylinechild wrote:boods1234 wrote:to replace car stereo in foreign used vehicle (double din)
i think that should be done at the discretion of the potential buyer and not as a "complete option" from the vehicle seller
reasons being :-
1. some customers like to features of the factory stereo- not to mention the look
2. some stereos will need a dash kit and additional harnesses to support additional proprietary functions - classic example - T32 Xtrail anyone ??? some of these harnesses WILL be costly - and some buyers will stick wit the OEM stereo to avoid that additional cost.
3. some soo called audio men dont know how to properly use a dash harness cable - they will just butcher off the OEM vehicle harness connector - when the owner decides to put in a decent enough deck - the harness already butchered and will take some time to sort out.
4 . FINALLY - in true trini fashion- your "supplier" will look to source the CHEAPEST OF THE CHEAP deck and sell it at the maximum price he can get for it.
no consideration to the vehicle purchaser who may not want a specific brand / make / model of deck- or who will want to expand later on.
save yourself the headache....do it as a per customer basis - ASK your customer what he / she wants and work from there.

I actually purchased a foreign used vehicle for my personal use and was told that in order for the radio and well to be rid of the japanese I would need to change both head unit and stereo.
So thats why i was looking for the above mentioned.
