Help! New car owner insurance advice

Postby Vrroomvroomchick » March 4th, 2018, 9:51 pm

Hey guys. I'm about to be a new driver and I need some serious advice. I don't necessarily have anyone that I can go onto their insurance as a driver. So I may have to get my own. I know this is a task being a new driver with no experience. Any tips? Advice? Recommendations? Companies? Help.
Also.... I need to have insurance to buy a car but i need to buy a car in order to get insurance....⁉⁉⁉

(From someone who isn't very familiar with this. Be nice.)

Call around or get a broker. The broker is free.
You can usually get quotes when you call. You would need value of vehicle.

what kind of car are you buying? new, second hard or foreign used? how old are you? insurance prices are higher if you are under 24 yrs.

if you need information easiest way to get a quote is to call a few companies and ask for it. tell them what car you intend to purchase and usually they can e mail you a quote. a lot of them offer discounts for being female driver, being in a credit union, working close to home, having a baby, not drinking etc

usually you need the certified copy of the car with your name on it to get insurance for it. if you are buying a second hand car, you can use a receipt from the registered owner and the certified copy to get insurance until you transfer the car or you can take out a cover note which is valid for 1 day to do the transfer then you can go take insurance out at your preferred company.

you dont need insurance to buy a car though. the closest thing that i could think of where you need insurance for a car upon purchase is if you take a loan from the bank; they make you purchase fully comprehensive.

Premiums went up last year.
I have to pay next month for my truck. Waiting to hear what they have to say.

Dbu on it. If u taking a loan you will need full comprehensive. Most likely with colfire or tatil. Depending on which bank you take the loan.
Do like everyone else and get 3rd party. 2500 per year. Basically just insurance to drive no coverage.
