A six-year-old girl was killed in a shooting at a relative’s home in Sangre Grande on Sunday. Three other family members, a woman and two men, were wounded.
Little Kylie Maloney, a primary school pupil, was asleep when gunmen entered the house at Blake Avenue.
A police report stated that the occupants of the house were awaken by barking dogs at around 2.05am. They checked the closed circuit camera system and observed three men dressed in camouflage clothing and armed with firearms in the front yard.
The men were shouting, “Police, Police open the door”.
Police said the gunmen opened fire on the occupants. Kylie who was lying on a bed was shot in the chest.
Two men, aged 45 and 34, and a woman aged 26, were wounded. The injuries were not life threatening, police said.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene. Her wounded relatives were taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital for treatment.
Police believe a close relative of the child was the target.

What will she be able to do? Ask why the so-called gangsters and pests are being harboured with innocents. You coming here with your cultish tribal idiocy, try staying away from the rum shop for a while.Mmoney607 wrote:maj. tom wrote:Yet another child murdered, collateral damage.Gangsters kill girl, 6, in Sangre Grande attack

Where is the Minister of Education in all this?
The Office of the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago
As we enter the new year, having closed the last one with record levels of murderous crime, it is clear that there is a body of citizens for whom these grim statistics warrant no pause nor any sober reflection.
It would appear that such persons have armed themselves and with abandon and total disregard for life and property have launched their new year assaults with even more ferocity and disregard.
I look forward to the Police Service Commission for its urgent recommendations for the selection of a substantive Commissioner and I expect that the Police Service and other arms of national security will redouble their considerable efforts in confronting the actions of the armed and lawless.
Success in this endeavour can be greatly facilitated by the sharing of any and all relevant information between citizens and law enforcement. In this regard, I make an appeal to all citizens who have any information on matters of violent criminal conduct to safely share such information with law enforcement so that increased success will be attained for Justice, Safety and Security of all our citizens.
Dr the Hon Keith Rowley

This incident should be raising the country into outrage like it did for Andrea Bharatt. But we will see which communities come out supporting what just like the questions some parts of society raised regarding her.
