The Rocket battery I bought reluctantly because it was the only one available in the emergency i was in, finally conked out after 4 years to the month.

It outlasted by far the other big name brands I've had over the years.

Same emergency batteries does live longer apparently. My Optima yellow was giving a lazy tumble, didn't want it to go on me suddenly. Bought an energizer from pricesmart, going past 3 years.

I went ahead with the powermaster for the car since my van running a powermaster 39 months strong. I wanted to put back an alpha ex but I wasn't getting the type I needed. Hopefully this powermaster can hold charge longer than the alpha ex which discharged regularly because I don't have a battery tender

I've used Bosch in a couple vehicles. They lasted just about the length of the warranty. Half as long as the ^^^cheap Rocket battery I bought reluctantly. Maybe I got lucky, who knows?

I'm on my second Bosch which I'm looking to replace after 33 months. Previous Bosch lasted about the same. 2 liter Honda Accord. Will look for something larger, probably closer to 60 Ah.

I used to get 5 years life from those. On 2 cars.
Current ones just over 3 years old. No problem so far

tested the voltage of a new battery (Mutlu is the name, never heard of it before) this morning - it was 12.9V. does that mean its overcharged as a full charge is usually 12.6V?

That's at stand still?
Remember when it is being cranked it dips in 11s.
Less than 11s it may not turn over.
That brand is being marketed by FT Farfan.

If the car was recently running and then measured soon after switch off then 12.9V is ok. It will drain back to 12.6 as it cools down.

If it measured 12.9V cold then you have alternator problems supplying a little too high charging voltage while the car running. At idle 1500rpm the alternator should supply 14 to 15V. Any fuses blown? Make sure the battery post connections are tight and clean.

If you don't think it's the alternator, then the battery plates are faulty and each carrying slightly excess charge due to the chemistry or bad electrolyte, so carry it back to the service center and let them test the battery.

14.4v is good stuff. Under load with AC and high beams shouldn't go below 13.1 or so.

AGM batteries have a resting voltage of 12.9V. Sealed, maintenance free is 12.6V.

Some companies sell AGM batteries for vehicle start/charge system applications. Perhaps that is what you bought.

As an example, all Optima batteries are AGM. You may need to contact the seller or manufacturer.

if you shake the batery and it goes splishy splashy, it's a regular lead-acid MF
If you don't hear liquid splashing around, it's an AGM

Have a pricesmart Eveready approaching 4 years. Was supposed to be a temporary fix till the dealer got the Optima yellowtop in stock.
