Since this thread is being slightly derailed into a preppers one, for those who are thinking about adequate drinking water in the event of a national disaster, have no fear!
There is a personal filter kit that sells on Amazon. You can use it in still fresh water to at least quench your thirst until you can properly obtain bottled water or pipe borne supply.
As for electricity, consider your priorities in a disaster situation. Your demand or appetite for the same reduces. You won't be watching TV, playing games, using water pumps, water heaters, clothes dryers and a sudden need to use your welding plant to brush up on your fabrication skills. It's a disaster and chances are, communications would be knocked out too.
Obtain solar power banks or maybe a generator. Make sure and have a couple gallons of fuel sufficient enough for your vehicle to make it to emergency services or some other important point of interest. The fuel comes in handy to power your generator. The only thing I can think of is that you want some light in the night and to charge up your phones.
Invest in a sat phone, a cooler, an inflatable mattress, first aid kit, flash lights, batteries, a camping tent, Swiss army knife, portable tool set, Life vests, bottled water, canned foods, firecracker with a small lpg for emergency cooking. Buy baby wipes, disinfecting wipes, toiletries and if you happen to have your FUL, well make sure and walk with the necessaries.
Load up your vehicle with the gear and camp in a safe area or head to an approved emergency shelter. I even got a night vision goggles to see a bit clearer at night in the event of total darkness. Also, I got the roof rack and Cross bars installed so in the event of an emergency, I can load up on top as well if the interior of the vehicle runs out of space.
As for your personal documents like deeds, contracts, pay slips, employment letters, passports, ID's, birth certs, marriage certs, and academic certificates etc...all of that can fit in a small fireproof safe. Make sure and scan all to your personal cloud storage. Don't worry if you can't walk with them cause those things are easily replaceable. Still have your physical ID's and passport in-person just in case you need to jump in a plane and ride out impromptu.
Just re-evaluate your property and vehicle insurance coverage values so if anything happens to them whether in your presence or in your absence, it won't matter. You will be indemnified accordingly. The priority is to make sure your family and yourself remain safe and can shelter from rain, drink water, eat and sanitize.
