Still not faster than an ICBM

Lewwe see how much posturing the donald gonna do from now on, since now with Russia at their front gate any military action from the US on any Russian assets anywhere could get them a real fast response.

thing is boi dizzy, 99.9% of US grand charging is done because they were relatively comfortable that their most likely opponents were far away with no installations close to them while America has outposts and bases all over the place allowing them to reach any enemy easily while at the same time giving them time to mobilize counter maneuvers against any enemy activity. with Russia literally at their back gate, that wide margin of time they had just got cut down to almost nil.

I srsly doubt they really terribly worried about ICBM's. I suspect they more studying possible precision strikes at US assets. Puerto Rico ain't far from Venezuela and doesn't have a whole lot of military assets based there while a lot of Americans actually live there, & Florida is just a hop skip and a jump up d rd

Hugo Chavez railed against the US constantly while happily selling oil etc to the US for decades.

PDVSA owned CITGO in the US while Chavez was nationalizing the oil industry.

The overt actions are not necessarily the real intent.

Anything that can carry a couple tonnes can carry a nuclear payload.

These jets are supersonic and high altitude... So a bit tricky to intercept.

I suspect sattelites focused on them like manicou In a tree.

The problem is, I would use a fishing boat and sail it up the Mississippi and use trucks to lorry them where ever.

somebody didn't sleep through "payload delivery methods" in terrorist class
but that plenty more tricky to do and less likely to succeed. simpler to just fly by and drop ordnance.

as to satellite monitoring their movements it's quite likely. but remember, they a lot closer to the US now, flight time from vene to pr or even fl is gonna be measured in minutes, not hours. so if Russia opts to try and sink the island scorch the peninsula, it doesn't leave a lot of time to scramble an interception.

Russia's Rosneft wins gas licences in Venezuela

Image

Venezuela has awarded licences to Russian energy giant Rosneft to develop two offshore gas fields.

The deal allows its subsidiary, Grupo Rosneft, to export gas produced at the Patao and Mejillones fields in the Caribbean Sea for the next 30 years.

Venezuelan authorities need to approve the deal before production can begin.

Russia is a close ally of Venezuela, helping to prop up its economy as it seeks to expand its influence in Latin America.

In August, Rosneft provided Venezuelan state energy company PDVSA with $6 billion as advance payment for oil supplies.

In a statement, Rosneft estimated the total reserves at the two fields to be around 180bn cubic metres (bcm) of gas.

Maximum annual production is expected to reach 6.5 bcm in the first 15 years.

Rosneft chief executive Igor Sechin signed the deal during a meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in Caracas over the weekend.

The state-owned Russian energy giant is already involved in a number of joint projects in Venezuela, including the Petromiranda, and Petromonagas fields, which are estimated to hold more than 20.5bn tons of oil.

Venezuela owes an estimated $140bn (£103bn) to foreign creditors.

Russian capital and cash have been helping to keep Venezuela afloat after its oil-based economy collapsed, hit by falling oil prices and revenues, and the plummeting value of its currency, the bolivar.

Last month, Russia agreed to restructure $3.15bn (£2.4bn) in debt owed by Venezuela. The deal allows Venezuela to make "minimal" repayments on its Russian obligations over the next six years.

Tracking The 5 Iranian Oil Tankers Heading To Venezuela

The Iran-Venezuela tanker crisis is a potential flash-point that threatens a major escalation. Five tankers loaded with gasoline are sailing across the Atlantic from Iran to Venezuela. Using open-source intelligence it is possible to track the tankers’ progress and, if it comes to it, watch an international confrontation unfold.

Image
The 5 tankers are visible on AIS, satellite and, in one case, state media. H I SUTTON (ELEMENTS SENTINEL, VENEZUELAN STATE MEDIA, MARINE TRAFFIC)

It appears possible that U.S. forces could intervene to prevent the arrival. Both Iran and Venezuela are subject to economic sanctions. The U.S. Navy, Coast Guard and partner agencies have recently initiated Enhanced Counter-Narcotic Operations. This includes the Caribbean and brings many warships within reach of the tankers.

The U.S. has not voiced any intention of stopping them, however. Despite this the Venezuelan military appears to be on high alert and is conducting a ‘comprehensive naval exercise’ called Bolivarian Shield 2020.

One of the tankers, Fortune, has already been met by the Venezuelan Navy and is now in Venezuelan waters. The Venezuelan warship, PO-13 Yekuana, is an offshore patrol vessel armed with a 76 mm cannon and light weapons. It would be no match for a U.S. navy interdiction force. A similarly equipped Venezuelan warship, BVL Naiguatá, recently sunk after it rammed a cruise liner it was attempting to seize.

The absence of U.S. forces on the scene however suggests that all five will get to make their delivery.

The ships probably loaded with the gasoline at the Persian Gulf Star Refinery near Bandar Abbas, Iran. They then traveled Red Sea and Suez Canal into the Mediterranean, and then into the Atlantic.

They are obeying basic ‘rules of the road’, which apply to maritime traffic. This means that they are broadcasting their position on AIS (Automated Identification System). So their position can be monitored on AIS platforms such as MarineTraffic.

The five tankers are:

1. Fortune, Iranian flagged oil tanker, IMO 9283746
2. Forest, Iranian flagged oil tanker, IMO 9283760
3. Petunia, Iranian flagged oil tanker, IMO 9820336
4. Faxon, Iranian flagged oil tanker, IMO 9283758
5. Clavel, Iranian flagged oil tanker, IMO code 9820312

With the positions on AIS it is possible to find them on free satellite imagery, such as from Sentinel Hub. This is low resolution but serves the purpose well. Paid commercial imagery such as Planet Labs can also be used for better resolution.

OSINT analysts such as Aurora Intel have been tracking the events. If the situation escalates, you can follow the ship’s movements via skilled use of AIS and satellite imagery.

Murica could "track" those vessels all they want, sanctions be damned. They dare not stray an inch into Venezuelan maritime territory, and can't stop any vessel in international waters either.
Lest we forget, the U.N. or any nation can place sanctions or embargoes on any other country, but they have no authority to dictate whether or not it's permission for two sanctioned nations to decide to form an alliance and trade with each other.
Think about it along the lines of "is the enemy of my enemy my friend or my enemy?"

Men seriously grinnin' and cyakin' over the fact that Pompeo and Trump's interference in Venezuela directly responsible for the ramping of US/Russia Cold-War BS and all it's impending complications and delivering it to our once relatively uncomplicated neck of the woods, yes. Everything is a game till sh!t gets real.
