The inaccuracy of forecasting is due to the chaotic nature of the atmosphere, the massive computational power required to solve the equations that describe the atmosphere, the land, and the ocean, the error involved in measuring the initial conditions, and an incomplete understanding of atmospheric and related processes. Hence, forecasts become less accurate as the difference between current time and the time for which the forecast is being made (the range of the forecast) increases. The use of ensembles and model consensus help narrow the error and provide confidence level in the forecast.

The system is currently on a Westerly track. Coriolis force will cause some North West movement moving into Trinidad.

Adverse weather is possible and the experts describe the system as an embedded thunderstorm.

12:00PM: WET DAYS ARE AHEAD AS TROPICAL WAVE APPROACHES TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WED, ITCZ LINGERS AROUND

A Tropical Wave is expected from Tuesday night into Wednesday daytime. Despite the actual passage of the axis overnight, the weather associated will continue on Wednesday as moisture trailing the axis on the Eastern side of the wave affects the islands as well as the northward migration of an active ITCZ (Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone).

On Tuesday expect sunshine to be interrupted by some scattered (30 -50% coverage area) showers and isolated (10 -20% coverage area) thunderstorms are forecast Tuesday.

Overnight into Wednesday , the trailing moisture with those Southeasterly winds will aid in showers becoming numerous (60-70% coverage area) and the possible of scattered (30-50% coverage area) thunderstorm activity.

Given the forecast conditions , all residents are advised to monitor their environment, stay updated with all reliable information and be on the alert for gusty winds, electrical discharges from thunderclouds and the likelihood of street and flash flooding.

We will monitor the progress of this Tropical Wave and the northward modulation of the ITCZ, however, prepare for showers during the period, some being heavy and thundery.
