A bunch of islanders got hired where I used to work. They are so lazy, that the boss say that slavery was the one time they actually had a purpose to work.

The Trump Administration Has Frozen the Venezuelan Government's Assets

Image

(WASHINGTON) — The Trump administration froze all Venezuelan government assets Monday in a dramatic escalation of tensions with socialist leader Nicolás Maduro, who has stubbornly clung to power in the face of mounting international pressure.

The ban on Americans doing business with Venezuela’s government takes effect immediately. An executive order signed by President Donald Trump justified the move by citing Maduro’s continued “usurpation” of power and human rights abuses by groups loyal to him.

While the order falls short of an outright trade embargo, it represents the most determined U.S. action to remove Maduro since the Trump administration recognized opposition leader Juan Guaidó as Venezuela’s rightful leader in January. As such, it places Venezuela on par with adversaries such as Cuba, Syria, Iran and North Korea, who have also come under strident U.S. measures.

Previous sanctions have targeted dozens of Venezuelan government insiders as well as the South American nation’s oil industry, the source of almost all of its export earnings.

As part of the executive order, Americans will be banned from engaging in transactions with anyone determined to be assisting Maduro or his government. The same Maduro supporters will also be banned from entering the U.S.

Exceptions will be allowed for the delivery of food, medicine and clothing. Transactions with Venezuela’s still sizable private sector do not appear to be affected either.

The executive order comes the day before Trump’s national security adviser John Bolton and U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross represent the United States at the International Conference for Democracy in Venezuela.

The conference is being attended by representatives from more than 50 nations that recognize Guaidó as Venezuela’s president and consider Maduro’s re-election last year to be fraudulent.

Moments after the executive order was announced, Bolton tweeted that he was looking ahead to what he hopes will be a “productive” day in Lima, Peru.

And just like that, Guaido gone.

Juan Guaidó thwarted in chaotic Venezuelan parliamentary vote
Punches thrown as lawmakers loyal to Maduro pick new National Assembly leader

Image

A vote to choose a new president of Venezuela’s congress ended in chaos on Sunday as legislators loyal to President Nicolás Maduro staged a vote to oust opposition leader Juan Guaidó, the country’s self-declared interim president.

As lawmakers traded punches and 36-year old Mr Guaidó tried to scale the railings to get into the building, rebel opposition deputy Luis Eduardo Parra was chosen to be the new head of congress, or National Assembly. Mr Guaidó and his supporters accused the Maduro government of staging a coup to seize control of the last democratically elected institution in the country.

“This is a coup d’état against the constitution and the rule of law,” opposition legislator William Barrientos told the Financial Times as the dust settled at the end of a farcical congressional session.

“We urge the international community, the UN, The Hague and the more than 60 countries that support the reconstruction of Venezuelan democracy to stay alert in the face of this coup, carried out by Maduro and his cronies.”

Sunday’s vote was called to decide whether Mr Guaidó should stay on as congressional president. He needed a simple majority in the 167-seat chamber, and his supporters were confident he would get it.

The vote had been keenly awaited because Mr Guaidó’s political future depended on it. For the past year, his claim to be the legitimate interim president of Venezuela has been based entirely on the fact that he headed the assembly.

The government will now allege that since he no longer does, his claim to the Venezuelan presidency is even more tenuous than before. Venezuelan state television was quick to hail Mr Parra as the new assembly president.

However, Sunday’s vote was so farcical that it seems unlikely that many foreign governments or institutions will recognise Mr Parra.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-52053799

The US has charged Venezuela's President Nicolás Maduro and other senior officials in the country with drug trafficking crimes.

The move, which will increase tensions between the two nations, was announced by Attorney General William Barr.

The US also offered a $15m (£12.5m) reward for any information leading to Mr Maduro's arrest.

It has long accused him of leading a corrupt and brutal regime, a charge he has repeatedly rejected.

Washington backs opposition leader Juan Guaidó, who last year declared himself interim president.

As well as Mr Maduro, the US indictment also charged four other senior Venezuelan officials including the country's chief justice.

"The Venezuelan people deserve a transparent, responsible, representative government that serves the needs of the people - and that does not.... engage in illicit narcotics trafficking," the US State Department said in a statement.

"These individuals violated the public trust by facilitating shipments of narcotics from Venezuela, including control over planes that leave from a Venezuelan air base," it added.

Gives them reason to launch an offensive against Venezuela to stop the flow of drugs into the US. Oh, and while they’re protecting US citizens from the flow of drugs they might as well take custody of the oil assets.

Postby Duane 3NE 2NR » June 11th, 2020, 11:48 pm

According to this video taken in Caracas, Venezuela, the fuel is for any amount you are willing to pay, even if you want to pay with cigarettes, cookies, food, cents, or nothing.

The current price for gasoline in Venezuela is US$0.02 per liter due to price controls, an excess of both fuel and hydroelectric energy, and economic collapse. That is the lowest price worldwide.

The current price in all of the worlds socialist countries is:
Viet Nam 0.57
China 0.83
Laos 1.08
Cuba 1.20

The corruption of the current government is the stated reason for US and UN sanctions.

Argue the intentions of the US, the intentions of the UN or the intentions of the Venezuelan government. Because the type of government has nothing to do with why the problem exists. Additionally, all of the fuel that you have ever purchased in TTO has been similarly subjected to price controls.
