Broken wing mirror assembly (Sorento)

Postby goalpost » June 23rd, 2020, 6:26 am

So apparently someone tried to break off my wife's wing mirror. 2017 Kia Sorento.
Southern sales telling me I have to replace the entire wing mirror assembly, but there's nothing wrong with it. It's just the metal piece which dented *(circled on right). So it cannot fit properly back into the other groove (circled on left)

Where can i get that piece alone? And who does these kinds of repairs?

Thanks

The only way you’re finding that little circular piece is you find a crashed van somewhere parting out. That is not gonna be sold new separately.

That is the mirror base . There is no way to repair it and have the mirror retain it's opening/ closing function . Don't try to source a mirror from a LHD market because the viewing angle is different .

Op just pay southern sales what they want nah... don't buy a car if u can't handle the cost of possible hiccups along the way and driving with only one side mirror is the epithany of irresponsibility imo... u putting other drivers at risk cause of your cheapness... again dont buy a car if u cant handle possible repair costs for it and servicing it on a regular basis (every 5000km to 7500 km travelled or every 6 months)

To get that piece alone you have to get it 3D-printed (that plastic won't last long) or metal fabricated which means all kind of mechanical engineer CAD and stuff.

Would end up costing the entire mirror assembly. Ironically, the person who tried to rip it off probably has the same problem you do.

Prob hit by accident by another vehicle. If they really wanted it and it reached that point, it would have been gone.

If you want a temp/ghetto fix, can you epoxy it to the base?. You'll lose the fold functionality. If the wires are connected and it works, you can try to isolate the tilt/angle control from the fold action mechanism.

There is a generic one for sale on amazon for $105.22 USD, with free shipping to your miami skybox.

While you wait for it to arrive, get a 0.5 pint of paint for your car from an automotive paint supplies/colour shop. Retrieve your paint code from your VIN plate.

Carry it by Senor Spann, and allow him to paint it for you. Go home and install it yourself. I have a trim remover set if you want to take a borrow which you can pm me if/when that time comes.

Willing to bet that the final cost would still undercut SS best price and you will solve this issue quickly as opposed to having to wait on them because just like their customer service, their spare parts are never in stock.

He won't have it . Plus he brings parts from the US , and only for the older models from Korea. You could source it from the UK ,same part . If you want it from SS and you need a bigger discount PM me .

^ father... SS like to overbull the cow u know... and that price is excluding labor i am sure... jusk checked it on amazon and it appears tbat is 171 US for it... but idk if op willing to do a temp fix or just leave his car park up somewhere (as driving without a side mirror is dangerous) while he waits for the part to import... also a sorento is like 400k... it should be expected that domestically available parts for these kinds of vehicles will be expensive... so my boy well stunting with he sorento... but bawling when it comes to repairs... how the saying goes... champagne taste but mauby pockets

Try:

www.FourGreenAuto.com

www.CarMarka.com

www.partsouq.com

Import it yourself. You can get RHD parts from those websites for Korean vehicles.

If the mirror is intact, you can remove and reinstall on the right hand side outside mirror assembly. The difference in the assembly part numbers is whether the RHS mirror is flat surface (RHD) or convex surface (LHD).
