If you speaking about Income Tax, Ministers and the PM are not exempt from paying it.
The Judiciary is the only place where you will find salaried people exempt from PAYE.

Maybe they should decrease the Politicians’ salaries? Remove the no- VAT and taxes for the ministers and use that money to help the people in need.. do they really need tax free vehicles at a time like this when the country needs money ?

Hundreds of Public Servants protest against 2% wage offer

The streets of Port-of-Spain are full of hundreds of public sector workers marching through Port-of-Spain in protest of the government's offer of a 2% salary increase over an eight-year period. The Joint Trade Union Movement and members of other union bodies gathered at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park.

As they waited, public sector workers from various groups began chanting to ready themselves for the march.

There were shouts of "Rowley and Imbert out", "Get down from there Rowley" and "2% nothing!"

After a brief conversation between union leaders Michael Annisette and Ancel Roget, and senior Trinidad and Tobago Police Officers, the march began. Their first stop is the Chief Personnel's Office and it's expected they will proceed to the Ministry of Finance After.

The unions formally rejected CPO Darryl Dindial's offer of 2% yesterday.

The end of PNM is here. Is either Al Rental cut that rent and use that money to help pay those workers. Let the private sector feel some pain, banks make MILLIONS in profit per quarter, increase that tax. IDC Jump high jump low find the money or let the politicians come do the work themselves

And why am i not surprised. This is exactly what they do on the job and have citizens WAIT for them taking their cool ass time only to be treated with a load of attitude.

The Public Service sector in T&T is absolutely disgusting.

We should be hiring foreigners and paying them well.

Max,

I normally agree with you however I cannot agree here . That's a very broad statement you made there because not every public servant has a bad attitude. If you want to talk about bad attitude, lack of passion and and the need to learn how to speak to people, I think you should start by addressing the PM of the country along with his fellow ministers. Let's take for example Mr. Hinds, Mr.Imbert and the list continues. The fish always rots from the head.Or is it just the politicians who can speak to you in any manner that's allowed however God forbid a worker gives you attitude, all hell breaks loose.

Jason,

I respectfully understand your disagreement.

I agree, not all public servants are as described but definitely the VAST majority.

The PM, Hinds and company has nothing to do with the punctuality and productivity of public servants. All i hear is excuses from these people.

If we must have incompetencies and inefficiencies, then let it be due to the flaws of the PM etc and NOT theirs. You think we don’t know the pressure the workers under? But that gives them the right to be blasted rude? Na man i am not tolerating that and they wonder why the citizens light them up.

“OH” the Govt not doing this and that and this is what we have to work with bla bla….but that’s the thing……they are NOT working with it and it is NOT fair to the citizens to be held at ransom and be inconvenienced and frustrated at the same time. Oh gosh they can’t at least try na to work just a little hard at least?

And increase for them does NOT benefit the citizens who are fitting the bill. So for them to want some big undeserving increase is selfish. They just want want want and will give nothing.

I am against the increase Jason i’m sorry. If they want an increase, then for bloody sake, work for it.

X3000.

They just on the streets for, as usual, an excuse not to work. Anyone care about the citizens that were inconvenienced today? I guess it doesn’t make a difference whether they are in work or not.

All that old noise? All that littering?

The citizens supposed to support them? Support for WHAT? Salary increase for WHAT?

To continue treating us like scum?

Anyways, PNM 2025

Exactly.

So this is how it will go:

(1) Either Rowley and dem settle by local elections OR

(2) They will string along the unions until 2025 and then money will magically appear to make everyone happy.

I going for 2.
