its also true that oil production now is way below what it used to be - so even at high oil prices we still not really benefiting from it.

Oil production in the second half of the 1990's represented 9% of Trinidad's GDP.
In the similar recent period, oil production represents less than 3% of Trinidad's GDP.

The latest data shows total natural resource income as a percentage of GDP in Trinidad at less than 6%.

Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard does not know of 10 new attorneys who have reportedly been hired for the Office of the DPP and no such attorneys have reported there as yet.

So the left hand doesn't have a clue as to what the right hand is doing or is this a witch hunt for Gaspard as he dropped the piarco charges?

UWI STRUGGLING TO STAY AFLOAT DUE TO FINANCIAL CONCERNS AND DWINDLING STUDENT ENROLLMENT.

As enrolment numbers dwindle and financial concerns continue to linger, the University of the West Indies (UWI) St Augustine Campus is fighting to stay afloat by focusing on strengthening the university’s chances of self-sustainability and economic survival.

According to Campus Principal, Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine, despite UWI offering the lowest degree costs out of all regional campuses, during the 2021/22 period, student enrolment numbers for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes decreased by 8.7 per cent and 28 per cent respectively. Total student enrolment declined a further five per cent from 15,931 in the previous year to 15,130 students.

Because of "$9 oil and an award winning airport," I am posting this here.

Whether it should be here, or not, is entirely up to the bloggers and trolls that uncritically represent their respective parties/clans on the forum.

^ The amount of Trinis that disagree based on the social media comments is a shame.

Then again, there isn’t much competition from the other third world countries.

Had a protest this morning by preysal flyover due to water coming once every 15 days.
Political misalignment needs to be eradicated in TT. Before things could improve. Why would an area suffer just because they did not vote for the ruling party?

And then the headline makes you remember that the evermore incompetent and corrupt Archie is still the CJ and judiciary circus never ends.

They want Gaspard out. The PNM witch hunt start, just like for Satnarine Sharma.

Interesting take by Kevin Baldeosingh...

Here is a transparent insight into the PNM mind: the UNC MPs not attending the President’s inauguration is putting party before the country, but appointing a lifelong PNM loyalist is not putting party first.

Lance, who was in my class at Pres Sando, defends this by asserting that Christine Kangaloo has an “impeccable character.” Now this, of course, cannot be the case.

Kangaloo has no career achievements that are independent of her PNM links and since the PNM, like the UNC, is an entity known to be corrupt, no person of impeccable (OED adj. “in accordance with the highest standards, not liable to sin”) character could be in the bowels of that party without getting certain kinds of stains.

(I would not necessarily argue, though, that ethical persons might not be involved with the party in a non-bowel way.)

As I see it, the playbook is this: Kangaloo will be called on to settle a series of conflicts where she will take an anti-PNM position. But the long game is some sort of constitutional crisis, which will further undermine our democracy and cement the PNM’s hold on government, where Kangaloo will decide in favour of the PNM. That, in my view, is what she has been put there for.

I hope I’m wrong, but every sign points to this being Rowley’s ultimate goal.
