Alot of US citizens don't know the correct phrasing of the 2nd amendment.

What's your point?

Food for thought, the second amendment gives citizens the right to bear and keep arms in order to protect themselves from a tyrannical government. It works in American but doesn't necessarily mean it will work elsewhere. If we had a second amendment here what Abu did in 1990 would it have been justified since he took up arms against a tyrannical govt?
The 2nd doesn't always work the way we think

The end of the COVID-19 pandemic in the US has a date: May 11.

Image

The move to end the national emergency and public health emergency declarations would formally restructure the federal coronavirus response to treat the virus as an endemic threat to public health that can be managed through agencies’ normal authorities.

It comes as lawmakers have already ended elements of the emergencies that kept millions of Americans insured during the pandemic. Combined with the drawdown of most federal COVID-19 relief money, it would also shift the development of vaccines and treatments away from the direct management of the federal government.

The FBI is searching President Joe Biden's home in Rehoboth, Delaware as part of an investigation into classified documents, his lawyer says.

In a statement, Mr Biden's attorney said the search was "planned" with the president's "full support".
CBS has reported that the investigation relates to a wider probe into the handling of classified documents.

The FBI has not commented on the search. As it was consensual, no search warrant was sought.

Mr Biden's lawyer, Bob Bauer, said that the search was carried out "without advance public notice" in the interests of "operational security and integrity".

The search is the latest in a series carried out at various locations, following the discovery of classified documents at the Penn Biden Center - an officer space - in Washington DC in November. This was not made public at the time. Additional documents were discovered at another of Mr Biden's homes in Wilmington, Delaware, in subsequent searches conducted in December and January. The precise number of classified records recovered remains unclear - although at least a dozen were discovered during the January searches alone.

In her capacity of gubernatorial election candidate, Lake may have infringed on the rights of the signatories as protected in the Fourth and Ninth Amendments by publicly posting their personal information.

Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes has asked the state's attorney general to launch a probe into whether GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake violated state law in a tweet alleging baseless claims of voter fraud, according to a letter obtained by Washington Post.

Driving the news: The Jan. 23 tweet included a graphic showing 16 voter signatures, per the letter sent to Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes. Arizona law states that the records containing a voter's signatures "shall not be accessible or reproduced by any person other than the voter."

"The protections afforded by this subsection prohibit posting any information derived from voter registration forms or precinct registers to the internet, and under no circumstance may a person other than the voter or an statutorily authorized person reproduce a voter's signature," Fontes wrote in the letter with the graphic attached.

Hunter Biden's attorneys wrote to state and federal agencies on Wednesday requesting they open criminal investigations into former President Trump's allies for accessing and spreading his personal data.

The lawyers for President Biden's son also threatened Fox News host Tucker Carlson with a defamation lawsuit.

Why it matters: The letters from Hunter Biden's attorneys mark the first time he and his legal team have publicly addressed the issue of reports that his personal data was found on a laptop left at a Delaware repair shop and shared by Republican operatives before the 2020 presidential election.

The New York Post published a series of reports based on the information at the time.

The big picture: A letter sent to the Department of Justice's National Security Division requests a probe into "individuals for whom there is considerable reason to believe violated various federal laws in accessing, copying, manipulating, and/or disseminating Mr. Biden's personal computer data," including Trump's then-lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

Hunter Biden's attorneys also sent letters that CBS News obtained to the Delaware attorney general, the Department of Justice and the Internal Revenue Service.

We were told that the information was disinformation.

More than 50 former senior intelligence officials have signed on to a letter outlining their belief that the recent disclosure of emails allegedly belonging to Joe Biden’s son “has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”

Even ole Joe said the laptop was a Russian hoax during debates leading up to the 2020 election.

The US has secured access to four additional military bases in the Philippines - a key bit of real estate which would offer a front seat to monitor the Chinese in the South China Sea and around Taiwan.

With the deal, Washington has stitched the gap in the arc of US alliances stretching from South Korea and Japan in the north to Australia in the south.

The missing link had been the Philippines, which borders two of the biggest potential flashpoints - Taiwan and the South China Sea.

The deal, which in part reverses the US' departure from their former colony more than 30 years ago, is no small matter.

"There is no contingency in the South China Sea that does not require access to the Philippines," says Gregory B Poling, director of the Southeast Asia programme at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in Washington.

"The US is not looking for permanent bases. It's about places, not bases."

The US already had limited access to five sites under the Enhanced Defence Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) - the new additions and expanded access, according to a statement from Washington, will "allow more rapid support for humanitarian and climate-related disasters in the Philippines, and respond to other shared challenges", likely a veiled reference to countering China in the region.

The statement came after US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin met Philippine President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr in Manila on Thursday.

Based on Brandon's handling of the economy, increasing the debt ceiling even further , America is just going to borrow continue to pay their bills and meet their commitments, thinking short term and not 20 years in the future.....hmm interesting

The US Congressional Budget Office only estimates to budgets and revenue to a maximum of ten years in the future.

The CBO currently projects that in ten years, the US budget deficit to GDP ratio will have improved by more than 50%.

So we in 31.4 trillion debt now ten years down the line we might be in 60 trillion ....eventually they will default on their loans

Americans have to realize something that you can increase your debt to how much you want , all you are doing is essentially buying time at some point you have to pay it off. All debts must be repaid and Amerika will never be able to pay off tens of trillions of dollars in debt.

China separates state-owned companies' debt from the national debt - China officially has a national debt ~US$12.5 trillion. When state-owned enterprises are included, the national debt is ~US$52 trillion. That makes China the nation with the highest GDP to national debt ratio in the world.

Difference with China and America is China not taking money from retirement funds of Federal employees and Civil employees to pay bills in the hopes of putting it back with interest. That's a risky move. Don't worry this recession is only mild.

What recession?

The U.S. is forecast to see 1.4% GDP growth in 2023, up from 1.0% seen in the last October projection.

Still, signs of economic weakness can be seen in the growing wave of tech layoffs, foreshadowed as a white-collar or ‘Patagonia-vest’ recession. Last year, 88,000 tech jobs were cut and this trend has continued into 2023. Major financial firms have also followed suit. Still, unemployment remains fairly steadfast, at 3.5% as of December 2022. Going forward, concerns remain around inflation and the path of interest rate hikes, though both show signs of slowing.

Takeaways

The murder rate in the 25 states that voted for Donald Trump has exceeded the murder rate in the 25 states that voted for Joe Biden in every year from 2000 to 2020.

Over this 21-year span, this Red State murder gap has steadily widened from a low of 9% more per capita red state murders in 2003 and 2004 to 44% more per capita red state murders in 2019, before settling back to 43% in 2020.

Altogether, the per capita Red State murder rate was 23% higher than the Blue State murder rate when all 21 years were combined.

If Blue State murder rates were as high as Red State murder rates, Biden-voting states would have suffered over 45,000 more murders between 2000 and 2020.

Even when murders in the largest cities in red states are removed, overall murder rates in Trump-voting states were 12% higher than Biden-voting states across this 21-year period and were higher in 18 of the 21 years observed.
