Spotify in Trinidad

Postby ttphilip » March 12th, 2021, 12:09 am

“ Spotify coming to the Caribbean as company announces expansion
LAURA DOWRICH-PHILLIPS CREATED : 22 FEBRUARY 2021 ENTERTAINMENT
Caribbean music lovers will finally get access to Spotify as the streaming company announced today that it is expanding across 80 countries over the next few days.

Spotify will soon be available in Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Jamaica, Curaçao, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Haiti.

The announcement was made at the company's Stream On event.

"As part of our ongoing commitment to building a truly borderless audio ecosystem— connecting creators, listeners, and content—Spotify is embarking on a sweeping expansion that will introduce the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service available to more than a billion people in 80+ new markets around the world, and add 36 languages to our platform. These moves represent Spotify’s broadest market expansion to date," the company said in a press release.

"By reaching even more countries across Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, and Latin America, we’re giving millions of new creators the opportunity to create, discover, and build a career in audio creation—and giving a billion new fans the opportunity to hear it."

Spotify said in each new market, they will work with local creators and partners to expand their music offerings and deliver a Spotify experience that meets the unique needs of each market.

Over time, the company aims to introduce its full music and podcast catalogues, free and premium plans as well as new platforms such as wearables, TV speakers and car.

Has anyone been able to get Spotify (without a VPN) here in TT now ?
Or still geographic restrictions?

"Apple Music has a key advantage over Spotify in that you can combine the songs you already own with the Apple Music streaming catalog. Siri users also get more robust voice controls for playback. Like Spotify, Apple Music has playlists that serve up songs based on your listening habits, but you can also listen to the Beats 1 Radio stations with human DJs at the helm." - and it ain't free

Apple music is trash compared to Spotify..... Way better experience with Spotify

Been using Spotify premium here a few years now.. fam away put me on their family plan, smooth sailing since, no VPN ever needed.

How does Spotify compare to Deezer? Personally, I find Deezer to be better than Apple Music... It's cheaper and has better quality songs.

Using this long time with a VPN.. using the US Spotify seems to be alot easier to get tracks in for some reason when u just use the 'radio station' function to get similar tracks

I used apple music for years and still their algorithm does not produce any proper playlist, for example if you listen to Kes, it will serve you 95% Kes songs, but 5% other soca

When it comes to curation Spotify is the best.

For me Apple music is for people that know what they want to listen too and Spotify is for those who want to explore

As for smart home, once you have Alexa you can link your Spotify account and you get the same features as apple and Siri

Great news! The main thing is that the program is properly configured, there is adequate localization and access is configured. Still, a common virtual space, including communication of people from different countries, is the path to international goodwill. At least between the ordinary population, I'm not talking about politics. Politicians do something that you can't stand on your head.

I’ve had a US-based Spotify premium account for years, but the monthly price of USD$9.99 + tax ($11.30 as of recent increases) seems expensive compared to the USD$5.99 for a Trinidad based account.

Question: Is the TT Spotify catalog of music smaller compared to the US version? Has anyone had both?

Thanks
