Market vendors forced to slash prices

Vendors at the Southern Wholesale Market in Debe say they are forced to cut their prices, selling below cost price and in some cases giving away produce because people simply cannot afford to buy.

Vegetable prices soared high this week with tomatoes selling for $25 per pound, sweet peppers $30 per pound and melongene at $22 per pound.

But today, small locally grown tomatoes sold for two pounds for $12. Seasoning prices remained high with parsley selling for $140 a bundle, celery $10 a bundle and chive $12.

Bunny Imports had bell peppers @$20 a lb vs $30 on Charlotte St, got lettuce @$10 for a large one today vs as much as $18 a few weeks ago for one that you could count the leaves on, saw sorrel @ $15 a lb when last year it was 3-4lbs for $20-$25, fortunately, I planted sorrel so had my supply for catering orders this week.

Nah all that means is the glue is premium and it looks like its one piece. It's still glue.

It's $8 USD in Walmart. Why would they even list the price/quart?

You getting the tax and duty for an alcohol import into USA.

For price comparison. At one time it was by the ounce. Some shoppers become confused and complain or stand in the isle dumbfounded. Acording to research, many shoppers are not able to even use the calculator on their cell phones.

Unit pricing has been encouraged by consumer advocate organizations in the EU and US for 50 years.
