Its really quite interesting to observe how the market responds to a new auto option.
Clearly at this stage, our domestic market is going to try different possibilities and there would be winners and losers.
I myself has long developed a position to buy in to new tech. solutions and similar at a more mature stage when the operational and financial issues become proven in our circumstances.
Unfortunately, our learning curve tends to be much longer than the more developed countries.
My support for the green initiative must be governed by my reality.

Curious , how would the licensing office treat a vehicle if someone locally were to convert their gasoline to a Full Electric setup?
Would it be allowed given all the original drive train , steering and suspension were kept in tact??? or do you think they would disallow the vehicle and refuse to pass an inspection?

Cuba has quite a number of those electric scooters and bikes.. its fantastic, problem is when they lane split you DO NOT hear them, so alot of times they get killed! But it is a great option!

Some bikers will not ride in the rain.
If a bike is your only means of travel then you have to consider when rains falls while trying to get to work.

All do respect, this is not accurate. Electric cars are barely profitable for car makers. CEOs have been against the regulations. They only make electric cars to meet these regulations. It will be profitable in the future, but currently the margin on ICE vehicles are much higher. Also, electric cars become cleaner than ICE vehicles well within their lifetime. Including lithium mining and charging efficiency. In the US, where they use mostly coal and natural gas, the breakeven point is 13,500 miles. Regardless, mass produced electric cars are in their infancy. Battery tech is improving and soon will not be reliant on lithium. The fact that electric cars are already cleaner the ICE vehicles with has had over 100 years of efficiency improvements tell us what we need to know. https://www.reuters.com/business/autos- ... 021-06-29/

Getting a ICE engine car would be like trying to get a manual car now, very few choices. For the purists maybe only a few top of the line bespoke exotics would be available and out of the reach of most, as everything else market forces and other market dynamics will dictate the prices supply etc going forward and prices are set to reduce, and usability, durability, capacity, overall performance etc will increase, just think mobile phones and computers, look at what they cost in the early stages, they were out of the reach of most, just look at the vast difference in their packaging capability and supporting infrastructure then and now.,

I'm sure the switch from animal powered carts to petrol was met with similar challenges and resistance. There's still a concrete horse watering trauf in Laventille btw, right outside Success Composite .

So what we prefer and what we think really isn't relevant in the middle to long term, adapt or be prepared to water your horse.
The Electric vehicle has been here over a 100 years.

They could not find a way to sell it and then they found greenhouse gases as a way to sell it.

What they not telling you is that process to manufacture the kart produces more greenhouse gases and then a hazard of waste disposal.

Big business don't care about greenhouse gases , your health or pollution. All that matters is their profits.

It's a con job for your money

Karts may be cleaned but that's just the karts.

The process to make them and mining of lithium batteries offsets the benefits of green house gasses.

If the world really cares about green house gasses then they should look in to Cows and the aviation industry .

Then again the world every couple of thousand years goes into a cycle of global warming.

Global warming has been here since the earth was formed .

TTT - With Government’s recent decision to remove tax breaks on the importation of battery-powered vehicles, there’s been much talk about how the move will bear fruit locally.

Well MAssy will be bringing the full electric Chinese MG, i heard rumors that Kia will bring their Full Electric Niro, as for affordability that may be it, this case of tax breaks are really for the Volvos, Mercedes, Jaguars..Bmw and Audi E-trons all of which will probably be over the $600,00 price tag

No no no, say the correct thing, Toyota have revealed concept cars that they plan to have out by 2030, by that time Tesla pumping out over 15m vehicles per year, and Toyota aiming for 3.5m vehicles
